A traumatic experience can refer to any situation that evokes an intense, overwhelming, and long-lasting sense of fear, anxiety, and stress. Emotional and psychological trauma is something unfortunately a lot of people go through, and its no less real or no less serious than the trauma that can be inflicted by physical harm. If left unresolved, trauma in any form can manifest in negative cognitive, behavioral, or even physiological ways. If you're feeling broken, we are here to remind you that you're NOT broken, but may be struggling with some unhealed trauma

I cant feel love anymore even though I have the extreme need to, is there any way to fix it?
This video is exactly how I feel.
I have certain triggers, some unexplained symptoms, I cant really have relationships, I suffer from feeling depression, and I have unhealthy coping mechanisms.
Ive also realized that my personality changes constantly. Is there any possible way to help myself without harming myself in any way?
Im going to share trum below, if you have any tr! gg3rs, be careful.
Some of the things I will say will tr! gg3r me as well, so Im going to try to keep calm.
I was a victim of bu11y! ng, my grndp d! 3d, my pap d! 3d, Ive lost my significant other due to both of our problems, And I just feel like a horrible person for no reason.
I also saved my significant other from the bully (they were very homophobic and transphobic as well) I used to see visions of the bully backstabbing them (with a kn! f3)
Every time I tried to be nice to the bully, they just abandoned me like a piece of grbg3.
Then I broke mentally, I sat down in the hill at our school leading to the softball field and started crying and my breathing was either going really fast, or really slow. I went inside later and realized I sat in poison ivy (still scars me till this day) I was never truly in the wrong because I was spitting facts to them.
My significant other cheated more than 3 times. Many times with someone much older than us, it was scary. All I said was something like: dude, thats like a kindergartner dating a high school person! And then I got in trouble and had to go to the guidance office because we got a restraining order (we couldnt talk) I thought the counselor said that if they started a convo, we could talk. But, I got in trouble again because I didnt understand. The counselor said if you have to come back here again, you will be in huge trouble. I was begging for forgiveness but she just stared at me coldly while I was crying a river. You could have given me a hug or something, I was still mourning over my grandpas death. Is that all you can do? Just watch me cry and beg you to forgive me? Whats wrong with you? I was so young and upset! You should have felt empathy but you probably havent because your parents or grandparents didnt d! 3 in front of you when you were small! I was just going to dance class but those gosh darn stairs made his heart stop three times before my dad brought him back and got him into an ambulance (my dad is a nurse) he d! 3d later that night due to difficulties in the hospital and I never got to say goodbye.
Gosh darn it, Im crying again.
I didnt have to go to school for the rest of that week because of the death. When my dad told me about it, I remember just how loud I screamed over it.
The sound of sirens still scare me to this day.
Sorry for the trum dump, I needed to get that out of me, it hurts to hold it in anymore.
Eventually the restraining order was lifted after our dance party thing.
I dont get why people would just get up and leave others for someone they barely know.
Then we broke up last year (it was a two year relationship) we started talking again a few months ago, but then something happened with their family. Idk what happened but I was either ghosted, or their parent hate me so much that they dont want me talking to one of my best friends and first lover. Its kinda sad looking back, but I have more friends now.
I still sometimes feel butterflies when looking at our old pictures, but I cant talk to them right now, so theres no point in trying to talk anymore.
Okay sorry, ima go now. Bye.

I used to have some pretty bad triggers in the past. I still have a few of them now but theyre not as bad as they used to be. I know I say it a lot but the thing I was traumatized by a few years ago was Attack on Titan. I used to not even be able to say, read, or hear the name of that anime without getting flashbacks, I used not not be able to go into my garage or pool room (yes, I have an indoor pool and its GREAT) for more than 5 seconds bc theyre decent sized rooms made mainly out of concrete, I didnt like taking baths/showers, for one, small room without a window, for two, I discovered I had to have music on the whole time to distract my overthinking brain which in turn made me lose my concept of time, I used to sleep with a lamp on bc I was officially scared of the dark again, I started wearing hoodies A LOT, and I got a lil more angsty. Some of the ones I still have remnants of are the garage and pool room thing although Im able to be in there a lot longer now, the shower thing, I still wear hoodies a lot but not for comfort very much anymore (I either only wear it though when its a bit cold in the room Im in and dont feel like getting up to get my blanket, or when Im upset with someone) and I still get a lil angsty, only when no ones looking ofc. Sometimes, the only times when I feel like my old extroverted self is when I hang out with my bestie. We could talk about LITERALLY ANYTHING! Even something as boring and obscure aslets say a telescope. We find just about every way to make a conversation about a telescope funny/interesting

I know I'm likely just pushing it down because I have bigger things to worry about and my grandma wouldn't want me to be unhappy I found out on the 6th of march this year about her death she was found at 2am on March 4th the day after my 19th bday it wasn't sudden it was known for a long time that the time was coming as for when that was unknown for all I know she could've died on my Bday she played a huge part in my life growing up which that's a whole ginormous load of trauma itself but it's been a little over a month now and while I'm thankful she's no longer in pain it really hurts I only have a few photos of us together and a voicemail I've saved when things are really hard I replay a certain part of that voicemail where she says I love you honey I miss her so much I just wish I could've been there more but wasn't able to I have a lot of flippin unhealed trauma that I've carried since before I was 6yrs old I just hope that me continuing on with my life and continuing to fight to get better and grow is making her smile and that she's proud of me

I don't know if this counts as trauma. I've been struggling to get into and maintain friendships/relationships for many years now and I tend to force myself into a workaholic kind of state - I get triggered when people ask me about anything outside work. I don't know if it's because in my family, my parents worked very hard and are very caring, but my half-siblings still look down on us for not being as wealthy and high status as them - we are not on speaking terms and I know that they don't really consider me as their sister. There have been other things - when I was talking with my friend I realised that I had selectively forgotten a lot of bad memories from school - so I can't remember these bad experiences now. I keep on telling myself that I am not suffering from trauma and I'm just weak, but after watching this video I feel like some of these symptoms match how I feel.
Sorry for the long text and if you've read so far, thank you

I would add that it is possible to become broken because of your trauma. Today, I have a very unhealthy relationship with most humans. I have no interest in getting to know any of them, I feel rage whenever somebody looks at me even if it's just for a second - I genuinely believe that the majority of humans are born inherently evil and/or selfish. why else would homeless people exist? I read almost all day when I'm not busy - reading is a very healthy thing to do for your mind - but every time I put a book down and return to reality I feel numb and disappointed. At this point, I would trust a demon before any human. A demon's intentions are very clear and they won't pretend to be good when they're not. You must always be prepared to fight because most people in the world, apart from those close to you (of course) would NOT hesitate to run you over depending on their moods.

i need someone to read this and tell me if i should go to a therapist or no so i have anger issues and my friends and family are pointing it out and judging me because of it when ever i try to change they judge me again which caused me to be afraid of talking to a large group of people because i think they will judge me if i do one mistake also i keep my emotions inside me and not letting people know how I actually feel example: sadness, happiness and fear. i also have a problem with opening up to my family because whenever i till them about how i feel they got to disagree and yell at me also i have been trying to forget some of the bad memories i have but i never did like how my dad hit me or mom or how mom hits me when she is angry. please tell give me an answer ( a little information about me i am 12 and female )

I have trauma caused by rejection, family troubles, people leaving me. My parents broke up when I was 2 months old because my dad cheated on my mom with a 16 year old and my dad wasnt around for a couple years which gave me trauma because he left me. I screamed every night for hours because I was afraid my mom and brother would leave me to. My dad came back into my life but he doesnt try to understand me and he never tries with our relationship he has a new family and I am fighting depression and anxiety and adhd and some other things. I was SA when I was young by my cousin so that plays in with my relationships. Ive been addicted to SH for a year and a half now. Im so scared of people leaving or not liking me. I hate trauma. I hate when people say stuff like oh yeah I know how you feel when they really dont.

i always feel weird and sad at night sometimes but my childhood was ok. 1st crappy trauma. my mom use to get drunk and when she was really drunk she sometimes would beat my dad up and start fighting and try and protect me from my dad. one time my mom and another freinds mom got drunk and there was endless beating. the was called and my mom was outside.
2nd. a couple weeks back there was a fire near. there was ALOT of smoke and scared me. I felt so anxious.
3rd. during the pandemic, for some reason I felt really sad and didn't know what to do with my self. we went to a field trip and I just hung my head down. I burned into tears. I don't know why I just felt really sad.
later we realized I had depression and afterwards I got anxiety.
WHY THE HECK DID I WRITE ALL THIS? IDK-

I relate to 5 6 and 7 I don't have motivation to do anything. I stopped caring for myself at the age of 8 and I hate being in a good mood. I never told anyone about my problems even my closest friends. And 2 days ago. I just stopped trying. I just stopped loving myself I hated every inch of myself and I just want to end it! I don't care about grades, I don't Care about school, I don't care about me. I lost every part of me that actually loved. me! I had been coping and coping and coping for 4 years and nothing has gotten better. I stopped eating and I'm facing trouble with someone at my school who made me hate going to school!
Phew. Anyway. Yes this is all true and I sincerely hate it.

My cousin and my aunt died in 2019. They died three months apart. My cousin was 43. I regret not spending more time with her. I did not know that she was sick. I remember when Diana was 6 and I was 16, we went to carnival village together. Someone fired a shot into the crowd. People were running everywhere. I picked up Diana and ran with her. I got robbed twice in downtown Miami. I had a break in at my home. I should have worn my favorite necklace to work to work that day. Luckily I hid some items in a secret place in the house. I found my radio in my backyard.

I'M WORRIED NOW. I just got out of a toxic relationship a few months ago, I lost my aunt to a OD and my cousin in a car crash 2 years ago, I have a VERY strong trigger about yelling (might be ptsd I'm not sure) I'm suffering from insomnia, I don't struggle with emotional intimacy but i do have clinical depression, and in the past I SH, i'm trying to find a therapist but rn my family is struggling with money because of the economy, I'm going to see if there is free therapy online anywhere, does anyone have any recommendations?

Thank you so much for the help you provide by your videos phys2go!
I really appreciate it.
In this video, there were many signs you mentioned. They are pretty helpful actually.
I'm not sure if I can call this a traumatic but, I often feel down for no reason. Like, nothing really happened, but yet, I'm feeling down. Sometimes, I cry for no reason. As I mentioned, even tho, nothing is wrong. I don't really know why that happens, I also feel annoyed, frustrated to be specific. Can you please tell me, what this is?

reply

I'm very glad that this came to my recommendations, for months I felt like there is something wrong with my mental health/myself. But I can't seem to figure it out. I did many quizzes from anxiety to dissociation just to figure out the possibilities I could have em. But none of them just seem right. I badly wanted to seek help from a professional just to figure out what have I been dealing, wether it is serious or not or if I was overreacting. thank you so much for helping me understand better

Can you have trauma without remembering the trauma? Cause i relate to like half of these signs, especially the last four, but I dont have any trauma that i can remember? Might also have some triggers like unexpected sounds (door opening or someone knocking for example) or when someone comes from behind and hugs me (thats scary. Ive been overthinking this for a while now and just want answers: /

Like for me, sometimes I vent it out almost like an essay, or I kinda write stories based on my experiences as a separate character - but when I write it down it sounds wayyy worse than I would have thought. Maybe I've been invalidating myself all this time, idk, but when I just write down the plain hard facts on paper, it looks brutal. idk anymore, because it doesn't even feel real

All of those symptoms you listed are also Hallmark symptoms of Myalgic Encephalomyelitis. And while some symptoms can overlap with mental health issues, having all of those would potentially indicate autoimmune disorders. And they can go hand in hand as well, as disrupted sleep, episodic health concerns, and constant fatigue or constant pain can also lead straight to depression.

A few years ago I lost my mother to lung cancer, I was nine shortly after I turned ten, the thought of her makes me cry badly, since her death I got much more detached from my friends, and I haven't been able to love anybody outside of my family, I also fear losing other people from my family especially my father I have no idea on how I'm supposed to deal with it tho
reply

when i was younger, i would always watch my mom fight with my grandma to the point that she would almost jump in front of me every time. So from a younger age, i would worry if my mom would jump infront of a car. Im not sure if im traumatised but sometimes when i talk about it to depth i start crying but i dont get flashes of it. so im super confused right now
reply

Sometimes unhealed Trauma can also start to drain you. And the more it goes on, the stronger you feel about the Trauma. Eventually, it might start to feel life threatening. So if that was so very dangerous, then the tiniest things can feel much bigger as well. Overreacting can become a norm if it keeps festering in you.
reply

I have almost all of these. But I've never actually been able to tell anyone. Once my mom found me suddenly crying in my room, I tried to explain how I felt and what's happening, but she just blamed it on devices. What's up with that! I cried while watching this because it brought back so many memories-

My cat that I saw as my brother died a while ago. Everyone seemed to just get over it pretty quick while I didnt. I did not know how to cope with all the things that I felt and I understand now that this sh1tty condition that Im in now might have been caused by me just trying to ignore my my problems.

I think that it is important to note that a toxic relationship doesn't just mean romantic relationships. This could also be friendships or even family relationships. Which in the end can be harder to identify as toxic, especially if it was someone you grew up with at an early age in life.
reply

1. All my relationships were toxic.
2. lost my father
3. got several.
4. several too
5. extremely
6. yep, got diagnosed with depression and extreme social anxiety
7. pretty much being on my PC/playing games all day (used to not eat for days and self-harm)
welp.

Walking on egg shells at home for the first 20 years of life. Thought I was doing better but now that I don't have multiple jobs or jobs and school to distract me I feel like I've done everything I can to just isolate myself and bury myself in random projects that no one cares about
reply

Ive experienced most of this and Im only a kid I think this happens because of my older brother constantly fat shaming me having me think I should just stop eating I still deal with this but it can no longer hurt me I dont care what I look like and its none of his business.
