Hmm, you (or the psych community) have conflated Machiavellianism with psychopathy and/or narcissism, they might live in the same neighbourhood but they aren't the same thing. A psychopath and especially a narcissist will often exhibit Machiavellian traits but being Machiavellian doesn't mean you are a psychopath, indeed a truly successful Prince deeply understands other people and their feelings and motivations, which a psychopath does not. I understand why the term was inserted into the idea of the dark triad but it's not conceptually or historically accurate. In fact I'd also say a Machiavellian personality is not even necessarily a sociopath (technically, though the border is blurry, a Machiavellian personality actually completely understands the difference between right and wrong as a societal concept, a better way to describe a Machiavellian personality would be ultra-realism carried to its ultimate conclusion (which can often be destructive on different levels. The dark triad would really be better reduced down to the dark duo because the attributes that are being attributed to Machiavellianism are really just behaviours shared by narcissists but the fundamental mental structure is at its heart just (mainly) narcissism.
A simplistic reading of the Prince as a guidebook for despots is what creates this image but its more complex than that.

this is kind of uhh. why this trait of person is being portrayed in such bad light by using words like dangerous, be careful of someone who would use this? isnt in a way connections and friendships built on this? we each get either satisfaction from friendships even the one that are made to be not that deepened. humans tend to judge and act like all is bad but is it really bad that someone has these traits? that they will do anything to survive building their own future. perhaps for that person they have the determination and reasoning to be this way. and if a person lets to be tricked isnt their own fault in a way they they let it happen? the ones that would say oh you are a bad person because you used that person to get to that goal of yours. isnt that just talk of the weak? person who would use putting himself in bad situations to pull gain from sympathy after they been used. perhaps thats why people tend to use each because these two persons would work in hand. the victim and villain each doing their own thing to survive. one seeks that pity and gets tricked by other while they thrive and move forward for their goal

My Machiavellian ex friend was living with my boyfriend (they said they were platonic and like siblings LOL a big lie, she asked me to be her bridesmaid (I barely knew her, but was flattered that she thought so highly of me, and pretended to be a morally upstanding person (mirrored my beliefs to deceive me. I should have known something was wrong when she organized a whole treasure hunt for all of her friends to wander around the city solving her cleverly devised clues. She was the puppet master and was obsessed about controlling other people and having power over them. Schemer beyond belief. When I asked her what her future aspirations were, early in the friendship, she told me she was going to own apartment buildings and make an incredible amount of money. She was in huge debt at the time. Her dream was to be rich and have endless power over others. I thought she was joking at first, but she was very serious. Twisted and ambitious. I wish I had known the red flags at the time.

My friemd is extremely manipulative and me and I'm the on e who doesn't fall for it and it started by her manipulating ev around in the friend group and then dating one of them and then he dated another girl in the friend group a few weeks after and then she somehow turned everyone against him and then we kind of let him back in the friend group without permission and she keeps trying to exile him by making stuff up and talking abt him and she does sh for attention and threatens to kill her self if we don't do what she wants and I have no idea what to do because we are finally realising how manipulative she is and she continues to manipulate some of my other friends into believing her and then they get on her side and it's just breaking my friend group and I have no other friends so I can t just leave the friend group and she uses her being poor and having her dad in jail to make up more kids and to get attention

I think I already said this in another comment section, but I had a friend back in elementary school that literally used me as a scapegoat so he gets away with doing bad things and getting me in trouble. I was massively gullible as a kid so I thought it was something I did. A Machiavellian person is literally him but if the story was in a movie or something. When my mom met him in 6th grade, she told me to stay away. I thought it was only a tip for people like that so I dismissed it. Until Deltarune dropped on switch where I played it for the first time and it teached me what true friendship was. I changed schools for 7th grade and never seen him again.

I've had more females in my life experiences - home, work, social circles, etc - who are more so narcissistic and Machs than males around me. BUT. of course who always gets blamed as if it's a dominate male trait? Notice how with House of Cards the wife of the political team wasn't mentioned. So tired of the double standards! Of course she's probably just the victim of the horrible man and we can give her a free pass since it's really the man's fault ultimately.

Example number 6 wow this one is just rife with male characters who are perpetrators of exactly what the video is about. I'm not even gonna bother going all the way to 12 because it's only taken me a few minutes to get halfway there and I'm not wasting any more time on what is clearly someone that does not like the idea of showing females in a negative light though they are totally comfortable doing so with males.

I would love if you could legally defend yourself against psycological abuse. Its easier to punch a machiavellian than to out talk them. Most people like this are not even fit, much less trained in the art of combat, and MAN would it feel good to change the shape of their face the way the try to change the shape of my mind.

I mean this is pretty accurate. People are often foolish. Behind almost every action lies an irashinal emotion which makes it easy to manipulate someone if you know which strings to pull. People with traits from the dark triad are actually a lot harder to point out. They tend to mix pretty well in crowd.
