A leading trauma researcher and author of The Body Keeps the Score, Dr. Bessel van der Kolk, explains how the body and brain are affected by traumatic experiences, leading to symptoms that differ significantly from those caused by normal stress. If you find yourself constantly on edge, struggling to relax, or avoiding situations that remind you of a distressing event, it's crucial to consider the possibility that you may be experiencing a trauma response rather than just everyday stress. 1. The capybara[a] or greater capybara (Hydrochoerus hydrochaeris) is a giant cavy rodent native to South America. It is the largest living rodent[2] and a member of the genus Hydrochoerus. The only other extant member is the lesser capybara (Hydrochoerus isthmius. Its close relatives include guinea pigs and rock cavies, and it is more distantly related to the agouti, the chinchilla, and the nutria. The capybara inhabits savannas and dense forests, and lives near bodies of water. It is a highly social species and can be found in groups as large as 100 individuals, but usually live in groups of 1020 individuals. The capybara is hunted for its meat and hide and also for grease from its thick fatty skin. [3] It is not considered a threatened species.

The only reason I'm writing this is because I expect it to be buried and never seen. If, for whatever reason, you stumble upon this, please don't read it and if you still do, don't contact me. Thank you. For my whole life I've struggled severely with developing and maintaining close relationships. My mental health as a whole was never that great. I don't have time or the desire to write a million reasons why but as a last effort, I'm trying to improve myself. These videos have been helping me recognize some of the unhealthy habits and ways of thinking that I have. Thanks!

Errr, finally you guys talk about this, i had this symtomps starting when i was really young, I thought this was maybe a merely my own little stress coming from hours of gaming, but yet sometimes it comes around inappropriate times, like when i was trying to relax after long workhours, or after some unhealthy bad habits of gaming.
I know this is my bad habit, but i was there, going to work just 9 am in the morning, smoking cigarette, and then having this unwelcomed response, i thought i might be exhausted or something

Yesterday, i has emotional numbing and detachment, i cant even feel something.
2 days before yesterday, when i wake up, i like all time check my friends in discord, i check my best friend, and i see what he was taken, he was my boyfriend before that, [but he still be my best friend. ] I yelled and cry at the whole apartment for 2 hours, its all because i know, what he not gonna be mine. I think i still have burnt out, mentally and physically.

At this point the only thing that makes me happy anymore are funny memes. Not even my cats or dogs, even the cat I sheltered and took care of as if it were my own child. I haven't grieved over the past few close family deaths, as if they had no effect on me. I'm scared that even if my own mother, little brother, grandmother or the cat i take care of as if she were my child would pass away, that I wouldn't feel anything at all.

Okay, so I avoid lots of places because it will cause bad headaches for me. I have serious trouble with remembering things anyway because of my seizures with epilepsy, but all this stuff hits me right up in the face. Another thing to speak to my therapist about. yay. I just want a trustworthy friend, a good job where I can work from home since I cant drive anymore and I just want to be happy again. Is that too much?

Amazing I just read about the body keeps the score It honestly makes a lot of things more precise and helps me understand a little bit more than I thought about but. Thank you, guys, for yet another great video and for bringing awareness to trauma responses I seem to struggle with those all the time as I, unfortunately, can't seem to sleep recently, and seeing this helps make that will make sense.

EMDR has helped a lot with intrusive thoughts. I still have flashbacks but my therapist has been helping me chip away at them. The intrusive thoughts I've worked through have helped me with my anxiety with driving, and I recently reached a milestone where I drove to a part of town I never thought I would go to. Driving is still a struggle but I've made a lot of progress these past few years

I can't remember how long ago it was for me when I was told about the book mentioned in the video. It was through a crisis line I was told because the person on the other end of the line could tell something was off about me. If it wasn't for them telling me about the book and talking with my therapist about it, I'd still be a train wreck of emotions ready to explode at any second.

I've had the 2 same nightmares for a long time and each time it gets to the same exact point I wake up shaking from it and would begin crying. I told my parents about it and they said I was overreacting. When I was little they watched World War Z and Jurrasic Park with me saying I would be fine but they are the movies have become my nightmares. (I feel embarrassed about it)
reply

I hate those dreams so bad. They hurt more than it did during the moment bc so much more has happened and nothing is better. The people who did it continue to try and intrude in my life and nothing will be the same. The regret hurts ecspecially bc it's about how my parents let me down and hurt me while i did nothing but try and be perfect and seve them my whole life

thanks, all of thats sign is what i've experiencing now, and now i know why i'm this kind of feeling, but how i know and how i solve that trauma? i have no time to walk in on therapy because i have not enough budget to pay that, and i don't know how to start to walk in on therapy. Can i solve that with myself? can i know if where/when/what is that experience happen?

1: 58 I did a paper on her and she actually discovered EMDR by going on a run while she was upset. She noticed at the end she felt immensely better and recalling the memory no longer had an emotional response to it. Thinking back she realized she was looking back and forth at the trees planted alongside the left and right sides of the path she was running on.

Ive been dealing with this for weeks. I had lost friends and toxic relationships took that advantage. It really messed me up and caused me to feel nauseous for almost a month, thr0w! ng up multiple times a morning. I have anxiety, and it only makes the nausea worse. Its a cycle and im only now coming out of it. Its tough.

And now, I am thankful that I am away from those people who have wronged me (those bullies of mine since my grade and high school and that senior high school teacher of mine. If we cross paths again, I would not say a word (not even a hello. And yeah, I would not use the wrong methods to give them karma.

Nightmares are way too relateable for me. I've had a lot of dreams where my mom was abandoning me and the first one I had was when I was six. Since then, whenever me and my mom have a fight and she gives me the cold shoulder, I keep getting flashbacks of that dream. It's scary.

Welp I need therapy-
(Ive known that for a while but the tricky part is actually writing an application for therapy sessions,
and in my country you get a set number of sessions before having to go to a private therapist and pay lots and the queue is reaaally long-)

I have SO MANY traumatic experiences.
I find staying of Tiktok, Twitter and news cycles- helpful.
And focusing on the future.
A good way to not LIVE within the shadows of my past.

My trauma responses have even effected my love life, which in turn effects my mental health. Vicious cycle of being stuck in my head, over thinking about my relationships, not properly performing during activities, and feeling like a failure.
