The World's Strangest Borders Part 2: Spain Ridiculous. The map of Spain is not real. Where are the Canary Islands?
-Occupy by Spain- Excuse me, Spain does not have -occupied territories- anywhere in the world. Both Ceuta and Melilla are -autonomous cities- with their own government with free and democratic elections. In fact, they are territories with a better standard of living than most of North Africa. All this thanks to belonging to Spain. -
Just like the Canary Islands. -
All the territories that ceased to be Spanish in Africa are today a disaster: Western Sahara and Equatorial Guinea, the latter with a dictatorship.
The Canary Islands are the territory south of the Strait of Gibraltar with the highest Human Development Index. Coincidentally Autonomy of Spain with more than 500 years of Hispanicity.

Question: What country (ies) borders Canada?
You might think of the Unite States right away bc it-s obvious to see that right away. But once you zoom in a little bit, there-s a really tiny island between Europe and N. America, i-m not sure what-s the name of the island. Denmark and Canada used to fight over that tiny island and once in a while, a Canadian soldier and a Denmark soldier came there just to leave a flag or an inventory of their-s so the enemy can find it. Just like a sibling-s fight, no war happening here, just cute stuff. The island is currently divided and half of it is Canada-s and the other is Denmark-s.

Gibralter is not part of the UK as the video suggested. It is a British Overseas Territory. Also the video is incorrect that Spain claim Gibraltar. The Spanish government recognises it ceded Gibraltar and the first and fortifications in the Treaty of Utrecht in 1713. What Spain contests is the 1km occupation of part of the isthmus which connects Gibraltar to the mainland. That 1km now has Gibraltar Airport on it.

haha Spaniard here, calm down to all those whose heads are exploding in comments, it is much easier than that, Spain is a transcontinental country, Spain has territories in Europe and Africa as part of its territory, since they are not colonies or zones of overseas, are a direct part of the state and the elected president is voted for and its citizens have the same rights as in Madrid.

Very misleading video - Ceuta and Mellila were Spanish territory long before the era of colonisation. Ceuta was ceded to Spain by Portugal in 1668 and has remained an entirely integral part of Spain since i. e. not treated by Spain as a colony. Melilla was conquered by Spain in 1497 and has remained an entirely integral part of Spain since i. e. not treat by Spain as a colony.

Crazy how you said spain took the land a little further ( and highlighted the MOROCCAN SAHARAH as well ) and gave most of it back but the land in the north. But then on your other videos you make it look like spain stole from someone and Morocco took control over the sahara. Would appreciate some clarifications.

I think your video content could be enjoyable if you'd slow down and speak for comprehension. Because you were speaking so fast I often had to stop your video and tap rewind because I couldn't understand what you were saying. I think you're doing the watchers of this video a disservice by speaking so quickly.

It-s called colonisation which the west fights other countries for, but when it come to them they all vote it-s ok for us to colonise you but nobody else can do the same.
Sadly 2023 and this still going, it just shows how biased UN is and one sided

Aha, someone who lives in Gibraltar i can brag to all of you how I get to go to Spain literally whenever I want and it-s amazing we don-t have much here but it-s actually quite a nice place but some people say it has a bad cockroach problem- --

Inside of Spain, 2 bits of Navarra are fully surrounded by Aragon, one part of Cantabria is fully surrounded by Basque country, one part of Biscaye is surrounded by Alava and Castilla y Leon, a big chunk of Burgos is fully inside Alava.

Absurd video in 0: 52. When Ceuta and Melilla were founded in XVI century, Morocco did not exist at all. Morocco could not reclaim anything because it did not exist. Are you thinking about a state than did not exist until 400 years later?
reply

Those places have never been part of Morocco. They were Spain before Morocco Ever exited and so, can't be returned. Also you have put together territorios that beca e parte os Spain at very diferente times.

These territorial anomalies are just fabulous and create a massive income for the various lawyers that are involved in the continuing wrangles. I guess the northern Irish issue is another one of these.
reply

Ceuta and Melilla are not occupied cities but Spanish cities, before being Spanish it was Portuguese conquered by Avis dinasty in 1415. Now, give back Gibraltar which is an actual occupied city.

Isn-t it strange that Spain keeps claiming Gibraltar from the Uk ( they gave Gib to Uk, no fighting) but Spain never mentions their enclaves in Morocco, in Africa!

0: 22 -After the Reconquista-, proceeds to skip 500 years of history to get to the part where Spain invades Morocco
Edit it literally goes from 1492 to 1955

Mm the very odd news re Gibraltar, which was allowed to vote in the bremain/brexit 2016 referendum, was that Gib voted the highest bremain vote of all!

Some Italian islands are also considered african like lampedusa and linosa and panteleria.
Also the island of Malta is also African for the record.

It's for them to spy on Africa only reason they steal land in that area. Show me anywhere in Europe where Africans have claimed any land?
