How Big Do Sea Creatures Get?

How Big Do Sea Creatures Get? The Ocean is a very complicated topic. Let me just state a few possibly incorrect facts:
1. It is VERY unlikely that there is something larger than the blue whale. By VERY I mean VERY VERY VERY unlikely. The deeper we go, the harder it is to sustain life. Almost all deep sea life is small. Even Colossal Squids have a rediculously minescule weight compared to their length. Even deepdiving whales like Sperm Whales dont spend much time there and ususally resurface to spend the day there. If something bigger (I hope I dont have to explain how general size is measured) than the blue whale did exist, we would have almost definetely noticed it.
2. When people say 5% of the Ocean is explored, they are referring to it directly being observed by humans. In reality, Almost all of the ocean has been mapped in some way or form, be it drones, sattelites, magnetic imaging, etc. Also most of it is uninhabitable. Of the habitable percentage, almost all has been discovered.
3. The 14% of species being discovered required more explaination. As you can see from the previous facts I stated, it would be impossible for something the size of a whale to go unnoticed. The 86% of species that havent been discovered are just small fish, crustaceans, squids, jellyfish, plants and possibly snakes or monkeys in dense jungles.
4. The Blue Whale is right at the cusp of the physical limits to an animals size, so somehow getting to a size larger than that is rediculous and probably impossible.
In conclusion, no, there is no modern day animal that can match the size of the blue whale. However, it is VERY possible, that there once was a creature, whos fossils were never recovered, that could slightly surpass even our beloved blue behemoth in size (that is if physics actually allows it to. Also, I noticed you stated that the Southern Elephant Seal was the largest modern day carnivore. This title is actually held by the sperm whale, whuch oddly enough appeared in the video. Im guessing this is just a mistake but I though Id point it out. Love the video tho!

We have no concept of how big they get, since we know less then 10% of the oceans, and seafloor, we have already found things far below what we theorized life could live at, and in areas so extreme we thought nothing could survive or dwell in, to presume we have seen it all is verging on species narcissisism, we are what is telling us we are smart or what we know, are we? We believe time exists, which by the way again we made, time is a human theory, not a dog's or a cats or a cows, what you perceive as time, is nothing more then decay, again humans believing we are so superior that we have discovered and can comprehend an immutable law of all reality, it's an exercise in nepotism and ignorance I will not and based from the scientific process can't acknowledge based on the facts I would have to look beyond to claim it.

Elephant seals are the largest carnivoran, not the largest carnivore. Carnivora is an order containing cats, dogs, and their close relatives. Cetaceans are carnivores, since they eat meat, but are not carnivorans. They are artiodactyls (of the order Artiodactyla, or even-toed ungulates. Other artiodactyls are pigs, giraffes, deer, goats, and bovines (cattle, buffalo, bison, etc. Carnivora is an order within Mammalia
reply

you confused the term carnivorous and carnivore. the carnivores are an order of mammals, including catlike (cats, hyenas and mongooses) and doglike (dogs, bears, pinnipeds and weasels, the elephant seal is a member of the pinnipeds on the doglike suborder. the largest carnivorous creature would be the blue whale, Krill are animals after all. the largest active predator would be the Sperm whale.

We can know cause this anything this big cant survive of white tidepoles in the deap sea and we exploreed the surface. Btw these robots we explored so much more with dont count. So we have seen more then 5 percent but human beings were only at 5 percent

1: 10 wow, sharks doesn-t like to eat British people, I know the reason why.
Brits love to drink tea and tea was very bitter sharks also doesn-t likes bitter taste so they never bother Brits

reply

I'm still in disbelief we have never recorded on film a fight between a Sperm Whale and Colossal Squid. It speaks a lot about how secluded they are and how deep they dive into the ocean.

SI units: meters, kilograms, kmh and tonnes.
US units: pounds, feet, MPH, PSI, average humans, Toyota corollas, schoolbusses, polar bears, boeing 777 and andre the giant.

reply

everything in this video is a lie the lions mane jellyfish only weighs 200 pounds the elephant seal only weighs 500 and great whites rarely weigh more than a ton
reply

The rarity of sharks attacking humans is really a misnomer, as most people don't get close enough to give sharks the opportunity to attack them.
reply

When a Sperm Whale washes ashore and is dissected, its stomach has squid beaks in it as they can-t pass them through their digestive tract.
reply

I feel like animals can get bigger than we think in the water because have you ever seen those cargo boats the size of king Kong and Godzilla
reply

I don't know why but I think we need leaders that focus on exploration more than anything else, we need to fully discover our oceans.
reply

They actually weigh nothing, as they are neutrally buoyant in the water. What we're actually talking about here is their mass
reply

95% of the ocean is unexplored because it's just an empty expanse, and we won't find anything new there. That argument is trash.
reply

The fact that the Ocean is basically just a giant dark void full of massive creatures doesn't get talked about as much as it should
reply

5: 38 that is not accurate you might be able to strech it a bit to fit a human but you will definitely not be able to swim in it

-Aye yo how heavy are you? --Uh, maybe like two TOYOTA COROLLAS -. The ocean and it's creatures are absolutely amazing.
reply

And in an upcoming video, titled: -Crazy facts about forensic science-:
-How much sperm can fit inside a Totota Corolla-

reply

Thank you for using Toyota Corolla's as a measurement, I have one so I can visualize the animal weights very well
reply

These videos are really informative and entertaining, but the measurement system is that of an absolute mad man.
reply

You measured everything in Toyota Corollas EXCEPT the Blue Whale's penis? That's the one I really wanted to know!
reply

I love that you measure things in Toyota Corollas. I'm not sure how that got started, but it is hilarious.
reply

What about the giant siphonophore (praya dubia? That one's longer than a blue whale, but is much lighter.
reply

It-s honestly annoying how often you mention Toyota Corollas, like it-s just some paid advertisement.
reply

I actually love that you repeatedly kept referring to -battles- when talking about sperm whales and squid
reply

I once imagine how powerful a blue whale can be if it is transformed into a vampire in a fantasy world
reply

I like how he uses both kg for the metric viewers and humans and school busses for the americans. Lol
