If unified with North Korea, it will double its national power, become a nuclear power, and useless confrontation and security risks will disappear, therefore no one will refuse. To be honest, the dogs and traitors in South Korea who are serving to the Anglos are deceiving its people by claiming that they will have to bear a huge burden if reunified. Cuz their master, the Anglo-USA, never want North-South Korea reunification which they should draw back their forces against China from S Korea.

Yes. This is just a West-East Germany unification on steroids. The greater economical gap, completely different ideologies, and even more huge cultural difference exist. Even the reunification of Germany brought economic and psychological fallout in the aftermath, and Germany is still suffering from it. And some people say it is more like an annexation. Remember. This is even happening in one of the most economically and culturally advanced country in EU. From this example, I can confidently say if the unification of Korea happens, the Korea will ultimately fall, solely from mitigating the economic difference and social problems while completely re-educating democracy to north Korean people. Even much worse thing awaits. At least Germany did not suffer the military pressure from the near countries. But Korea is adjacent to Japan and China, they have great military forces, especially China, which is even currently under the second cold war. So, even with fat chance that the unified Korea could be survived from the economic and social problems, it is impossible to deal with the infiltration from China at the same time. I am a young, 20s South korean btw.

If unification occurs, North Korea will be an economic drain to South Korea for many generations. East Germany is still a drain on West Germany, with lower metrics such as education levels, health, income, employment, etc. This vast difference is what is causing a brain-drain of East Germans moving to the West. West Germany (#4 GDP) in 1990 was vastly wealthier than South Korea (#13) is now, plus East Germany was still stronger economically compared to North Korea. Unification occurs over 30 years ago and it still haven't reached parity.
North Korea joining South Korea. good idea in theory, but when the standard of living deceased in South Korea, potentially stagnant wages due to influx of unskilled labour, the increase in crime, the increase in taxes to support social programs for re-integrations, etc. lots of people will be against it.

Its crazy to now that this people has always been ine country till the superpowers dicided to divided them on the ideology of every super power and what every super power believes in (socialism/capitalism) thats destroyed this people who've been always one country with the same culture, language everything i actually don't think that the world will let them united because they'll be hella strong with the n. korean military, nuclear power+ s. korean development & technology but i hope that one day the north Koreans will have a good ruler who will wnd the tragedy of the people of. N. korea

I-m wondering tho. If they were to reunify. Since many families were split apart. I wonder how they would meet together again. But probobly not because I doubt the ppl would allow dna testing in any place. Even if to meet their family members. Also dna itself is hard to track. The number of similarities decreases the more genorations you increase. So the results could be skewed. Honestly best course of action is to just let them live by themselves and have their own lives. Even if it means families are separated. It is for the greater good that people have their own lives.

Why would the top 10% of the North Koreans would give up their country for the bottom 90% to benefit. The top holds the power, wealth and comfortable life and will continue to enslave the bottom 90. Also the nuclear weapons is just deference to prevent any attack from USA. The minute america attacks missiles would come land on Seoul. If south is ready to sacrifice some of its people and economy north could be finished in days. Their military would abandon the fight right away, but south will have to take some middles.

Also, reunification of the Korean penisula will attract major investment deals with Japan, China nad Taiwan. Especially the Japanese.

The history of the Taeguk flag is over 400 years, and even North Korea used the Taeguk flag as its national flag until 1948. However, North Korea made the current North Korean flag because the symbol used by the royal family was opposed to communist ideology. For both Koreas, the Taeguk flag is meaningful and they will not use such a strange composition of two flags

There will be greater revivalism of native Korean traditions and buddhism at the expense of Christianity. North Korean lands will be depopulated allowing for more concentration in South. North will become a peasant land producing food for the country. Overall over a 50 year period Korea will become a powerful nation that play China and Japan against each other

re-unification cannot happen. Noth will see that South korea cannot assure neutrality as it is pretty much a vassal state of US and tbh, they are quite right to think that. That alone will be a deal breaker. South is developed enough to enjoy a certain life standard. A decade or two of hardship is not an appealing idea for a strong economy and military some 3- years down the line. Hence, it cannot happen.

My grandfather grew up drinking from a wooden pumped well, grew up the 5th son of 12 children, and rests in Busan, he said that he'd always ask his own father stories of the land up North, something which bears the name Korea yet, we're enemies.
In good faith, i hope at least someone within my bloodline sets foot on North Korea, not with soldiers trained on them from behind, but with their own family.

There was no ware between W and E Germany and the split was done by their war WW2. However, Korea is divided by Soviet and US, instead of Japan. And both Soviet and US left and helped the war by their interests. So the agony level is different with Germany. So, reunification process will not be easy like Germany.

Korea is really great. After 30 years of colonial rule, after liberation, the country was devastated by the Civil War and the country was divided in half. Nevertheless, it became a strong country. Korea seems like an underrated country. I hope that the Korean people will meet soon after reunification.

Two things. Twice you said that the North Koreans are -uneducated-. The fact is that literacy in NK is almost 100%--pretty much the same as SK. And two, a big reason that NK is poor is because it has had harsh sanctions on it by the West since it first became a country. Just sayin'.

I don't see reunification happening. My only hope is that the DPRK can see an end to the tyranny of the Kim dynasty and see democracy one day. But, that would require the People's Republic of China to agree with that. They don't even want democracy in China, let alone the DPRK.

A united Korea is almost impossible, china would never allow a strong US ally on its borders like that and US would never allow the north to take over South Korea not to mention none of the government officials on either side would be willing to give up power

East Germany did not have nuclear weapons, starvation and very low standard of living. Human rights were existent to some extent and there were no Kim family holding on to power. East Germans still could travel and were not enslaved

I-m glad the 2 presidents signed the peace treaty and are friends, hopefully they can merge or at least free the border, perhaps maybe even building an airport or allowing people to travel into North Korea, I always wanted to go
