Rearming the world's merchant vessels with highly lethal and very effective line of sight weapons is long overdue. It needs to be a top priority. I figure the world's governments would never allow merchant vessels to have over the horizon weapons because that would make them military ships, but a completely disarmed merchant vessel was a modern oddity of a world mostly at peace, and that's clearly no longer the case. So what if a pirate captured ship is used to blow up the Suez Canal What if a pirate gets a ransom for a seized ship, but sneaks a trojan horse wmd weapon on it, for its voyage to the next friendly port. What if these drones reach a level of sophistication that rivals land to ship missiles capable of sinking vessels, and not just causing minor damage, and many cities around the world are starved of essential resources This is a war whether we like it or not, whether we declare it or not. There will be a cost to prosecuting such a war, but the cost of doing nothing to ensure international security / stability seems far more extreme. Merchant ships need deterrence, that is much more than just mere water pumps and sonic blasters and last-resort side-arms. Give the world's merchant marines their cannons back. Give them clear deconfliction port-signal indicators that these weapons are stowed away safely disarmed, or else ready to fire, in their design. If they start chasing each other and becoming pirates themselves, we can revisit that, but I really don't think crews operating in the best interests or their corporations and nation states, and want to actually return to their families in one piece, are actually going to go roque like that. And if they do, well hell, that truly is a job for a navy-intercept. But no nation's navy can afford to patrol the entire world's oceans, and keep it completely free of piracy, in the current geo-political situation. The battlespace has rapidly evolved, along with an increase in geo-political tensions and hostilities, and we must adapt. There's no sane reason a merchant vessel carrying tens of millions of dollars, if not hundreds of millions, worth of cargo, and capable of hosting trojan horse weapons if someone wants to repurpose them into fireships, shouldn't be a fortress on the open sea. For the protection of the crew, the property, and even safeguarding the lives of people back at port.

Correction: At 13: 31, you say Iran would blockade the Strait of Hormuz, but that is categorically false. Iran needs that strait for its own oil exports, therefore they would never blockade it. Actually the only time it would be blockaded is by the US Navy if Iran wants to go to war with us. Their oil infrastructure is all located inside the Persian Gulf and along the Iraqi border (which was a major cause of the Iran-Iraq war.

So if there was an angry dog in your hood you would go around it and not provoke it, right you would go around the ( long) way because it ment getting there without getting bitten or all the noise. wouldn't you so why not reroute the shipping and just like that there isn't any more issues, right the angry dog can't stay angry and goes and lies down and you get to go home to your family in safety, right.

What about Israel
Why blame Yemen alone Israel is indiscriminately killing Palestinians and wrecking havoc on the whole region. They’re conducting military operations on every border country and more. It’s arguably the worst humanitarian crisis since WWII.
There are no participants free from responsibility for the situation in the Red Sea.

Hands down this was a solid educational video. Thank you. I am not a brainswashed trumper or a liberal Biden dude, but ya gotta give this presidency some credit for it’s conduct. Again. Thank you. This is the stuff we don’t hear about regularly. You totally narrate all your videos with solid factual authority! Beast!

Yemen is not wrecking the Global Economy. Had the US not endorsed the Genocide of the Palestinian people and voted for a ceasefire in Gaza which is the normal human thing to do Yemen would not be putting pressure on the US to do the right thing. The truth is the US is wrecking the global economy.

Australia has not refused to send ships to the Middle East to support the USA. Their ships are on other missions in support of the USA right now, like patrolling the seas around China. Australia doesn't have 500 destroyers like the USA does, they can't just create more ships out of the air.

You misrepresented the US withdrawal from Afghanistan as something good Biden did.
Trump brokered a deal to pull out which biden reneged on, enraging the Taliban into breaking the ceasefire. The Biden admin then pulled out in a disorganised panic leaving a massive power vacuum.

I dunno, maybe the entire west and the US in particular going into crippling debt and creating massive inflation through money printing to the point of currency collapse has had an impact on the global economy. Anyway i can see someone sinking a ship in the suez just for kicks.

yunno, I feel like if Trump said the Queen of England is great, the democrats would feel compelled to say the opposite. Look at how much trouble the US is in and has caused in the last 3 years all because Biden feels compelled to do the exact opposite of anything Trump did.

The middle east is a never-ending shitshow. I just don't understand why they are all so aggressive towards each other. It just causes endless misery for all the countries in the region. It's such a shame that they bring their children up in such an enviroment.

Fun fact: The Nimitz-class aircraft carrier carries thousands of tons of munitions.
We have a solution.
We just lack the will to use it.
And don't doubt for a second that if the rebels had the means they wouldn't hesitate for a single second.

This is amazing. The yemeni people hit capital right in it's circulstion. You can't replenish ur merchant capital or sell the finished merchandise. Thr longer this goes on, the more money theyre loosing to keep their capital circulating.
