This is just my own opinion but I'll always hate Jason for abandoning Medea. Even though the gods were the ones who forced her to fall in love with him, Jason wasn't much shy in enjoying the benefits of having her as a crewmate. Poor girl killed her own brother only to get abandoned by the one she did all those horrible things for. This is just my opinion and nothing will change it. Please don't bash me because I'm not going to have any arguments.

What the prophet actually told them was to release the dove and then observe. If it was able to pass, then they would be able to pass as well and if it wasn't then they should not attempt it.
When they let the dove loose, it was able to go through, with the stones crushing just some feathers of its tail. The argonauts then attempted to pass, and they went through sustaining only light damage in the ship's tail.
