let's give it a shot.
the goal is to keep him out of the center of the board where he can just pick a number higher than 3, so. I don't think you can pick anything but 1, 2, 3, 4 since he'd just instantly pick 5 and win.
From there I think it's just about always keeping him on the borders. Any time he picks 4, just jump him to the opposite border. When he picks 1 through 3 there's almost always moves you can make along the border that leave you with 1-3 to move safely enough.
The worst case scenario I can think of is if he picks 2, 3, 4 in that order. Because you'd need to move him to the center of a border, then you'd need to move him into an inner ring, and then 4 is a victory.
If this solution is gonna be you can pick 0 or actually you don't need to move in a straight line i'm gonna frown lightly at it

This riddle literally doesn't even make sense. You can not move a diagonal 5 on a 5x5 chess board. When you move diagonal you have to stay on the same color squares, you are just moving the distance of 5 squares which is not how chess moves are done.

With this solution, correct me if Im wrong, but couldnt Moldevort use 1, 5 and then get out? Because he chooses which values. Maybe I didnt understand the rules properly
