no question. the Falklands should be Agrentinian.
However, if memory serves me, the USA had a hand in slapping around Argentina in regards to the Falklands in the mid-1800s before the British took it. The island was essentially abandoned. Furthermore, the REAL reasons why the Brits invested so much money and risk into the Falklands conflict wasn't because of a few hundred sheep farmers-no way. More so, it was to salvage the Iron Lady's political standing. Even more important, It was because having the Falklands allowed the Brits to have a foundational influence on the Antarctic (not too far away from the Falklands) and all its untapped trillions of dollars in resources. They are one of the countries laying claim to the antarctic as per the Antarctic Treaty System of 1958.

I'm actually not going to view this video on yet another unjust conflict by corrupt Britain, only corrupt politicians know truth which course know zero about such, ultimate liars as history proves, many claim it was about oil thats under island, but this sad conflict which cost so many lives could of been resolved peacefully at negotiating table with United nations over seeing it, I suggested joint sovereignty, but I believe Argentina more right than Britain, ye, nearer for one, This was just another island British ships passed over thier piracy and slave kidnapping, ye, they dropped anchor regardless if culture there then put up British flag and say this is now British soil, lost count how many countries they did this to since 1st ships built, better rest there, jcvw

It shows how mis-information and propaganda can be used to motivate the masses into supporting a land grab. Wikipedia clearly shows how much time Argentina has spent as custodian of the Falklands. It's only if we can be honest and truthful about the past that we can navigate the future with the best chance of avoiding bloodshed. In addition to deliberate misinformation in advance of military action, many countries history lessons avoid unpalatable truths about past atrocities committed in the name of empire. At least with the advent of the internet we can educate ourselves, provided that our respective governments don't restrict access to unapproved sources.

In the exactly the same time this war of which the rest of the world watched it on their television. Myself and many young men were fighting a much older war in what was South West Africa. We watched with the amazement on how the British Armed Forces were prepared to go for an island that most of us in Africa never heard of. Thatcher had let the former colony of Rhodesia down, but for an island with no real value what so ever. Politicians are indeed the scum of the earth. I respect and salute the soldiers who fought and died in this conflict but cannot understand why it had to go so far.

First I'd like to say my heart goes to the families that loved ones never returned.
I was only 8 when this war on.
I didn't know my furniture or anything (as been so young) but in my life IV met alot of ex military that was there at the time.
If it was not for Thatcher the UK would of losted the falclands and the war. I know she didn't really do right by the UK working man but she did do right by the people that lived on the falclands.
IV heard that I'm related to the 2nd in command of the navy at this time, IV never met the man or seen him.

This documentary didnt actually explain why the Falklands war happened. It certainly was an even handed treatment of the cost of the war and how horrible it was for the combatants, but I also didnt think the conclusion of it painted a fair picture. It made it sound as thought the retaking of the islands was just a chest thumping exercise for the British, not a liberation of its territory by an invading force of an oppressive military junta.

It was David vs Goliath, only this time Goliath came out the victor and David was not righteous in this instance, Argentina picked a fight with a World Superpower, that they could not win. that is what happens when leaders of small countries put national pride ahead of everything else, as one of their solders said, everything there was English, even a found nail said made in England, it was a British Island, through and through.

A nice move against both countries, Junta has given the Argentine nation a small boost of pride after years of criminal rule; And the Iron Lady reluctantly accepted this to her harassed working class, which destroyed hundreds of thousands of jobs, and the kind of social security that citizens have given to the same class for almost 300 years, a small illusion of a once great empire. blood, wounded and fatherless children

Why did the Falklands War happen? Well. Mrs Thatcher was doing poorly in the polls and decided that going to war would improve her chances of winning the impending election because of the 'rallying round the leader' phenomenon which ALWAYS happens when a country goes to war. George W Bush and Little Johnnie Howard learned from her and copied this very same trick, too! :D

As a high school student I went on a Mediterranean cruise with 500 of us Canadian kids and 500 British kids. This happened in 1976. We sailed on an old WW2 ship called the SS Uganda. When the Falklands war broke out you can imagine my surprise when I saw the SS Uganda sailing up the Thames river going off to another war.

Very little footage was shown on British TV at the time. Remarkably little.
There was a very effective ban on visual reporting because Mrs Thatcher did not want public opinion affected by horrifying film from the conflict. A lesson learned in Vietnam.

The British were looking for a national pick-me-up due to the recession and years of Thatcherism and the Falklands served the purpose. British govt couldve avoided the whole thing had they not immediately rejected all mention of a diplomatic solution.

The Falklands war was cruel, needless and costly war that claimed the lives and wellbeing of hundreds of young men and women on both Sides. Margaret Thatcher merely used this minor conflict as a stepping stone to another Tory Term in Office.

We should of sank the Argie Carrier regardless. that could of been a threat for In the future. we should of sent harriers on our carriers after they surrendered and took out key Argentinian military sites and ships in port in ARGENTINIA.

US wanted to oust Galtieri without their immediate intervention so with the help of Thacher they allowed him to enter the islands but his defeat was preplanned. Galtieri has fallen then. This is why it happened

So, I have a question (if anybody sees this 4+ years on)
Anybody know why paratroopers were used in an amphibious landing? That seems like a mistake to use them in an amphibious landing and not a paradrop
