He killed Women and Kids and to me that is not a leader! He may have said Freedom for his last words but like i said he killed Women and Kids and that is no hero in my book! To me Wallace was just another person that wanted power. If he didn't kill the Innocent then that would be different like what Biden is doing right now! He is are leader but making all the wrong choices because he is a nut to. Just my take on all this! All thou i think Biden should have the same demise as Wallace!

Edward I did not annex Ireland as 100 plus years earlier Henry II had been made Lord of Ireland with a papal fief from Pope Adrian IV. In fact Edward pretty much left Ireland alone- being focused on conquering Wales and later Scotland. The name Wallace means Welshman and the term Welsh was the word the Anglo-Saxons gave to the native Britons- anywhere they lived, so you did not necessarily come from what today is called Wales- the English name

I had to check this out. Braveheart is easily - a top 5 movie in my world. Mel Gibson is a Hollywood God and we will appreciate him when hes gone. He made a mistake, hes a damn artist they all have mental issues. We forgave him a long time ago, hes the last of a dying breed. Give him what he wants and let him make these masterpieces. Apocolypto was another classic, You can watch that in 50 years.

I've got a funny feeling that Robin Hood might be the fictitious story - taken from William Wallace's life - not the other way around. And certainly, I know from certain sad events of my young life that if someone does something terrible to the girl you love, the desire for retribution becomes a motivating factor that could easily inspire a man to a life like William Wallace's.

So, in a way, Braveheart, though hilariously historically inaccurate, embodies what Wallace was: a legend, a myth. Braveheart was the LEGEND of William Wallace, kind of in the same vein as 300, not the historical representation of the events of Wallace's life. On that note, I think it can be forgiven for its historical blunders.

Cambuskenneth Abbey has the top left portion of his torso and attached left arm buried in the graveyard, the Abbot of the time took the gruesome remain from it's hook in Stirling and buried it under two large elongated stone's and carved W W in the stone's, his grave there still exists.

A lot of it is Scots history according to Englishmen and to be honest I wouldnt have been surprised to hear that Alexander III was pushed off the kinghorn cliffs. Wallace was muredered, innocent of treason to a King that was foreign to the Scots. Treachery is any Englishmans middle name!

I love how this documentary is completely biased from an English perspective and speaks nothing of the atrocities England imposed on Scotland prior to Wallace. It's like Wallace just came out of nowhere and was a ruthless killer of innocent English do-gooders lmao.

Loved this. Wonderful to find yet more on this story.
Jane Porter and I share Jane Adamson as a distant grandmother ancestor.
Porter wrote, 'The Scottish Chieftains, ' the tome referred to along with other sources, for the Braveheart film.

27: 20 Heres the thing, I don't actually care what the British think about Wallace's chivalry, they were the imperialists, imperialists being crushed always no matter what point in history, I'm on the side of the natives who did the crushing.

Sounds like they (English) started it! The Scottish that later fled to America were the source of our success in the Revolutionary War by not lining up regimental style, instead attacking from trees, water and other unexpected attacks.

These comments. Everyone has their own agenda and interpretation. . But the film did such great disservice to the truth. And Scotland.
At least with this documentary you are closer to the facts

My grandmother was a Wallace and could go back 4 generation of William Wallace, she said they were from Wales, but I found out they fled Scotland to Wales to avoid being hunted down in Scotland.

Don't understand why historians believe public news writers when even modern news proves to be exaggerations and lies. And Robert the Bruce 'back-stabbed' Wallace to seize the crown of the Scots

Obviously, the Scottish Nobility was in cahoots with the English king and convinced Wallace to stand and fight at a predetermined location where the Long Bows could wreak havoc.

Royalty is a bygone term that lost it's meaning the same as roman emperors who raped and pillaged their own countrymen. Royalty now days just ensures they evade prosecution.

So the English will destroy countries and murder everyone for territory but its a big deal when Wallace does it? No wonder the royal family is just a joke.
