The British must still be cross breeding/inbreeding because they keep producing IDIOTS. His hero Shackleton was also an idiot. The British have a knack for turning idiots into heroes! I guess they simply cannot stomach being embarrassed or foolish. Go figure. Attempting something like this at 55 years old is pretty much INSANITY and his TRUE friends would have insisted that he seek MENTAL THERAPY. To quote a famous remark by Clint Eastwood in one of his movies: A man has got to know his limitations. Or something like that.

So this guy already did it 2 times but just had to do it a third time with even harder conditions just to prove what exactly? To show that he's tough or is it that British need to be the first to do something for some reason when no one else cared or asked him to? He didn't do this for charity, it was for himself and his own glory. Either way, his hubris killed him and he got what he deserved.

I was there at the British base in Rothera Antarctica in 2015 our
station leader conveyed our well wishes towards the expedition.
I was truly astonished by henrys bravery and determination.
I remember How it left us in shock when we got news of him passing!
May he rest in Peace

I've strived through some pretty harsh and barren conditions before, -22-28 degrees Farenheit with wind up to 55-60 mph. Cold like that, you can Actually Feel it Trying to Kill you, not in a physical sense, metaphorically; It WANTS to take your life.

You are a human. We don't naturally thrive in Antarctica. Don't try to walk across it alone? It sucks that such an ambitious guy had to bite it on the surgery table but when you intentionally risk life and limb, don't expect the world to mourn.

We start out talking about how Worsley (and the others) wanted to accomplish definitive firsts as a legacy, then shift into Worsley following in others' footsteps not once, but twice by 4: 24.
reply

Very well put together. For those asking why he did not know his limit, the answer is simple, Henry was once my Lt Colonel & he had no limits! The man was a warrior in complete life.

Traversing Antarctica alone and on foot? You wanna win a Darwin Award? Cause that's how you get one. Sure, it can be done but it should NOT be done solo for various reasons.
reply

for 150 grand he could of done other things are reach that goal with out freezing his inner organs or maybe he knew some one there that didnt want anyone to see or find out

Gosh even those trying to become celebrities were dying in 2016!
On a side note, I heard there might a to show about this in the near future

Clickbait title. Nothing haunting about these photos really, and despite mentioning his audio diary you didn't include any of it. C-
reply

I have absolutely no sympathy. His big fat ego got him killed, just like his hero Shackleton. And these pictures are NOT haunting.

that's just one thing I don't get, going to the south pole, alone and pulling a sledge. They seem to have all died in the past. RIP

This man was amazing and brave! Why didn't he know his limits. His endeavors would been applauded regardless if he quit earlier.
reply

Sure he didn't struggle with suicide? I mean. lets think about this. He had to have known there was slim chance of survival.

Here's a bit of advice. change the outro. I sincerely enjoy your videos but the outro is becoming very annoying.

It must be a great feeling it know that you're gonna die and no one can help you. Rest in peace great explorer
reply

sounds like he was an idiot. this was the mistake the terra nova expedition made and it cost them their lives
reply

330 lbs of gear eh? These stories always have a Masonic number just to mock the dumbed down population.
reply
