Love the history of the Krampus. Most people I know( in Austria ) pronounce his name as Grumm-Puss. And he is a character for sure. Mom and dad used to enact outrageous plans to scare me and my brothers. It was even more fun when the neighbors joined in. You could be sure we were grateful to see St. Nicholas the next evening. And then three weeks later, Christmas. Childhood memories are so sweet. (and terrifying)
From Wien.
Peace.

Mr.
At least better than the rest of Germany and Holland: Usually Saint Nikolaus is depicted with his helper, Knecht Ruprecht (Zwarter Piet in Holland, who is black man beating naughty children with branches. He is usually played by a blackfaced man (people dressed as Nikolaus and Knecht Ruprecht usually visit kindergartens and elementary schools on 6th december.
They tried banning this character in Holland, because it may be offensive.

Santa is a rat. He makes a list, checks it twice, he finds out who's naughty and nice. But then he turns the naughty list over to Krampus so he can have his sadistic fun. I wonder how much Santa gets for that information? Santa is magical so he is pretty invulnerable. But he has to be getting paid off somehow - the stooly.

Well if you are from austria like I am this is absolutely normal. Going to the Krampusumzug is fun in my town. A few of my friends even dress up as a Krampus and beat people with wooden sticks.
But in some parts of austria it is also called Perchten instead of Krampus.

you forgot to mention that every year children in those countries end up in the hospital because Krampus beat the shit out of them, for example last year in Germany there were several cases on the news. And, Krampus doesn't leave behind birch but a stone of coal.

No. Where Krampus exist, Santa doesent. We have Christkindl here, so no Santa.
Also we dont wake Up and see the Stuff, Krampus comes at night, so we see the presents at the same night. Sometimes Krampus even visits, that being disguised parents.

I may point 1 thing here. Krampus and santa are not related. Santa was made way way later. (by coca cola add)
It was the saint that was kinda a santa for europe.
Also people were using those chains on windows to scare children at night.

I have just the thing to deal with Krampus. A double barreled shotgun loaded with shells filled with petrified, desiccated peanuts extracted from excrement. BOOM BOOM!

Some parent with some shitty kid basically came up with his story to try to get them to behave. Parenting has been hard since the beginning of time xD

Amazing video, for the most part it is very well done. Only minor issue is St. Nikolaus day is the 6th of december. Krampus does come the night before though.

Why the heck would anyone make something like this up for Christmas! That's just too creepy and cruel, even for disciplining kids!
