The Real-Life 'Exorcism Of Emily Rose' Is Way Scarier Than The Movie

The 70s were a big decade for Lucifer. The Exorcist came out in late 73, Anton LaVey was really feeling himself with the growing popularity of his Church of Satan, and his book, The Satanic Bible, was really hitting its stride. This enigmatic mixture of Satanic hysteria was a perfect storm that set up one of the most horrific cases of child abuse by way of religious ceremony and tradition

Blatty's book and articles about the making of The Exorcist were all the students at Anneliese's university could talk about. So she became obsessed with the idea that her health problems and seizures were caused by posession. Posession and demons were already suggested to her during the previous years by an elderly woman who used to chaperone Anneliese. This put the blame for her illness on the demons and not on herself, so she would not be rediculed anymore. In order to convince everybody, she started behaving irradically. She got so absorbed, that she could not stop anymore. This finally led to her death. Do not misunderstand me: the parents and priests are responsible for her death. They should have put her into mental care, but in stead they encouraged her in her behaviour as she was the center of their attention.

I am on anti-depressants for PTSD. One day I got gastroenteritis and had to go to the hospital without having my meds with me. Eventually, stopping the meds abruptly for 24 hours caused a crisis, and I started crying and screaming and bumping my head up and down on the hospital bed. I was screaming so loud that all the staff ran to try to calm me down and some old ladies started praying. I managed to explain the issue to the doctors, they gave me diazepam and I calmed down. My meds are third-generation anti-depressants in quite a moderate dosage. Imagine if she had a much more serious illness, epilepsy or schizophrenia and cutting abruptly the meds they were giving them in the 70s. Poor girl, she lost her life due to ignorance.

this case is nothing less than what happens when you dont have enough medical knowledge, nowhere during her life it felt like she had been possessed. it's clearly the case of schizophrenia along with other mental illnesses, had there been enough educated doctors and advanced science (like we have todah fortunately) she would've lived a full life. all those demons in her, her being obsessed with the fact that there's devil inside her happened because of her extreme catholic beliefs she was taught. There are so many things i could think of causing her to behave the way she did during her last times and demonic possession doesn't strike me even once. genuinely saddening.

For those saying it was mental illness
How do you explain the supernatural strength, the knock heard by her sisters, her eye pupils expanding.
When looking for demonic possessions these are the following signs,
Frequent Nightmares
A feeling some one is watching you
Supernatural powers
Hating religious symbols
Experience health issues which the medical science cant understand
And Emily had all of these, its just that the exorcism wasnt done properly and was unsuccessful
There is a fine line between mental illnesses and demonic possessions.

You can have epilepsy and not be mentally ill or be possessed all it means is you have epilepsy and they at that time were limited in how they could treat it. The religious extremism could have been a big factor in a lot of it too especially from the indoctrination to believe such things and to consider the fact that any infirmity was supposedly caused due to sin and to believe demons and devils were responsible for everything behaviorally
reply

I believe she suffered from a undiagnosed mental illness, cause I really doubt the existence of demons and devils and that they can enter (possess) a person's mind. This story could make me cry, thinking of this healthy beautiful girl breaking down bit by bit over the years until she died. Its the saddest story I know about. Must she rest in heavenly peace.

I find it impossible to understand why her parents were so concerned about her so called possession that they had put her through so many exorcisms but, could not be bothered to give her the basic needs of life. They deserved more punishment and so did the priests.

they mannipulatet her i guess becausenobody is obssessed with anything without the parents or any influential person letting heror him abot it those medicatuons are not good they are made for that reason because they are demonic thise medicarions

all this fact is not recognized in court of law, it has to be handled by us all the time. Even now the law only once a dead body, their next of kin with proof. This is very sad; we have to endure all of it, it's really sad indeed.

Okay, Ive watched a few of these real life stories of this poor woman and none of them mention the possibility of MPD.
Secondly, was that creepy ass voice emulation at the end really necessary!

reply

It's obviously aliens, not demon possession that doesn't exist and the faers tortured the poor girl to death! That's what religious complete ignorant parents have done to this bright young soul.
reply

If this case was of real mental health then what's the explanation for the voice recording of her which is absurd? Don't come up with 'oh primary and secondary vocal cords activate sometimes -'
reply

I think she is suffering from epilepsy and her mental condition worsened thats why she was hallucinating. there are nothing named demons its just a creation of man kind

And of course all of the comments in this video devolve into a bunch of atheists and christians arguing like little girls. GODS NOT REAL! YES HE IS! haha pathetic.
reply

satan or dark sinister force are one-and-the-same idiot!
of course she was possessed. If you do not believe, wait till you get to hell, then you shall!

reply

Them other patients straight Rudolphed her ass. Piss in the bed, you're done, ain't no way we're letting a bed wetter join our reindeer games.
reply

Any proof that the Michels was an opressive family? Or you just made it up for the sake of this video and your agenda?
reply

67 exorcisms in 11 months. the definition of doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results
reply

So, doctors could not help through years, but all the symptoms of possession were present so exorcism was performed.
reply

People fail this girl. She was begging for someone to help, and those around her failed her completely
