It's good to see such a video out here. I want to share a personal opinion which may contradict the viewpoint of most people. I don't think the Japanese American weren't treat that harshly compared to what most other camps treat people. It wasn't the best but not the worst. Also it is normal for Americans to be furious during that time after the pearl harbor attack, Japanese imperial army moving out their force more to the south, taking lands from Korea and so on. So considering the general consensus of the American people back then, it is natural for people to be enraged at Japanese. Now, I'm not saying what they did at the camp was right. But there were and are camps in many other countries where they don't even provide enough food and water.
I would say the American government did the right thing to gather them up and put them in a camp. Because this saved the average Japanese people from being attacked and harassed (possibly killed ) by enraged normal citizen of USA. That's my point of view.

Well I do not trust her Asian stay strike me as extremely sneaky. However, as an American and a patriot I believe in the Constitution of the United States of America these people were citizens theres no way you can cut this otherwise in the size it was wrong and as I understand it some of the Japanese people honorably served our country during that time. You got a remember now the Asian man said its different. In any case though no one can deny that this was a bad injustice and I know about 10 years ago that they got some type of check and it was six or 7000 bucks supposed to make up for you know what they did and all that but anyways in America it Doesnt matter if you are white, black, Asian, Hispanic, or whatever other type of people there are here. The constitution is quite clear and the kids protection you all American citizens without that we would have no Justice.

It's easy for people to say what they think they would have done better, when you didn't live through it. You do realize that they hit Pearl Harbor with such precision because of the infiltration of Japanese spies right? Easy for you to cry racism when you didn't live through it and say you would have done better.
But let's see, did you do better? Not Really. Fast forward guess what you didn't do better. All you same left wingers had people fired from their jobs, kicked out of schools, and wanted to put unvaccinated people in camps for a disease with a 99% survival rate if they didn't take an experimental vaccine that we now know has serious side effects. Riots during lockdowns burned down cities, 1000s injured many killed. Small businesses that will never reopen. Looking forward to how the future generations judge you all

Definitely a bad moment in American (and Canadian history as we did the same. But for the American Japanese, I always wonder what would have happened if they were not taken to the internment camps. The reaction to pearl Harbour in the US was of immense anger, I'm not sure how the average American would have reacted towards someone who they perceived to be Japanese

I think I will summit up by saying this: when you were an American your color does not matter every American deserve rights under the Constitution these people were denied that and it was nothing short of criminal even countries even great countries like the United States have to be also great enough to admit when they make poor choices and mistakes!

I understand these actions were somewhat justified. My issue is the way it was done. The government could have been more respectful and human. It's interesting how democrat governments and people have historically done atrocities and now they show them as a proof of how racist this country is.

Even though this is probably racist, it was during a time where a lot of these Japanese and that was the first generation to live in America and still had loads of links to Japan, it would probably happen to loads of people who have only lived in a country for 10-20 years just to be sure.

Everybody who loves FDR as a liberal socialist, remember what he did to the Japanese Americans.
And Executive Order #9066? There is no Constitutional justification for any president to be able to issue Executive Orders. It's not in the U. S. Constitution, yet they all do it.

BLM though right? Even though in pretty recent times America brought Japanese people to their knees. Funny how you literally NEVER hear of Japanese people bring this up anymore, but we all gotta drop everything because the black folks are living good enough on their welfare.

The Chichijima incident (also known as the Ogasawa incident) occurred in late 1944, when Japanese soldiers killed and consumed five American airmen on Chichi Jima, in the Bonin Islands. Maybe if they were a little more humane to prisoners, then so many would not be feared.

Are you serious? Name one country in the war that wouldn't have shot everyone if they are lucky or let them starve in work camps. Yet here you are complaining that bunks are not good enough and the Santa Claus was not up to par. Show some gratitude to America!

I went to school in texas and pove history. Only once was I ever taught about Japanese internment camps. what the did based solely because of their heritage and race is disgusting. FDR was a great president but this was his biggest disappointment

it hurts me to think that nationality has anything to do with what makes you amercan. thats what the government wants you to think. those people of Japanese descendants were any less patriotic than anyone who thought the new deal was a good idea.

This is so hypocritical. America was supposedly against nazi interment camps, but then Japanese attack and all of a sudden, we gotta treat the Japanese Americans just like the Nazi's treated the Jewish people by putting them into prison. wow

Thank you, amazing account. Makes me wonder whether there were any other options given the circumstances; and what would happen today if a major war occurred. As an Aussie, we have a huge Chinese community - what if there was a war with China?

Justin Trudeau disarmed Canada and camps are being built, for purposes unspecified, all over Canada. In the U. S. A Congress woman suggested compiling a list of opposition supporters. The past always repeated itself.

Let's not forget Pearl Harbor. and how American soldiers were treated during the war. Their capture and lives were horrendous. Sorry for the children. Blame your own country for Pearl Harbor and reprocussions.
