I never cared much for horror movies: vampires, werewolves, etc. I also found Hammer Horror Films but a rung above kitsch.
I nevertheless felt about Mr. Lee a sense of intrigue. I could see about him a patrician dignity and a steel formidability that made him compelling as few others.
My first encounter with him was as a guest star in Space: 1999, playing a subtly clever humanoid alien bound for Earth. He was as seamlessly shrewd and cunning as I ever saw!
In the interviews accompanying The Lord of the Rings trilogy Extended Edition, I could see the actual man, his grandeur and intellect, his foibles and quirks open for all. From these, I genuinely came to admire him deeply as a whole human being.
Over the following years, the more I had learnt of him, the more I cherished him from afar.

His war record is embellished. He was a liason officer, he never lied directly but he completely deceived us into thinking
1. He wasn't allowed to talk about it
2. He referred to it as special ops which is completely a technicality
A liaison officer is a commander's attorney. He was JAG, that's kind of cool but that's not this James Bond crap he chose to let everyone believe lol
As for the knife in the back story. It's possible he witnessed an execution but it's also possible he didn't think leading with my war buddy once told me. was what would convince peter jackson

Honestly this is not a good video. No, not because how the video was made nor how chris was portrayed but the way you think of yourself after hearing about all his accomplishments, probably at least 50-75% here including me mostly just lazy around and play video games or stay at home and maybe meet some friends sometimes and this just made me feel bad about myself, as if i'd have to be like him, just dont forget that he was incredibly gifted by his genes so you dont feel bad about yourself. Theres still a long life ahead of most of us just make sure to do what you like i guess!

Yep this man was In tune with the force. At 78 he did do some sword work for Attack of the Clones, but left the acrobatics up to a stunt double with his face digitally added. I served in the Special Forces, was wounded several times. I also worked as a stunt performer and actor specializing in martial arts, sword and knife fighting. However I suspect if I do any sword fighting at 78 they will have to prop me up and attach a few strings to get it done. RESPECT! & RIP.

You forgot to mention that the man counted to infinity on 3 separate occasions.
The man was an absolute unit! Winter War vet, fought in the Battle of Monte Cassino, was knighted, is related to Charlemagne (among many others, played Count Dooku and Saruman, then volunteers his acting prowess to help a friend. Oh yeah, and the metal albums he put out exist, just as a side note.

Yo, as a metalhead and a fan of christopher lee I'm just gonna put this out there.
I'm insulted you'd refer to ANYTHING with clean vocals and major chords as black metal. If I can't commit suicide to it, it doesn't count.
okay thats all i wanted to say, great video.

Dear Hollywood,
Instead of making and rebaking remakes, please do this magnificent being justice and make a movie or series out of his life story. Letter for letter all the hard work has already been done for you- now just do it.
Thank you.

When filming the scene in The Two Towers where Saruman is stabbed, Peter Jackson tried to explain how he should react. Lee, being a WW2 veteran, said Have you any idea what kind of noise happens when somebodys stabbed in the back? Because I do.

is there a no-stone-unturned biography of this man including his wartime service? It certainly would make a thunderingly riveting read, or do we have to wait a century for his file to get declassified by the Establishment?

Always liked Lee as an actor and in The Man With the Golden Gun. In my youth, he was Dracula and made saturday afternoons a horror in those films. You should check out his role at the beginning of the film, Shaka Zulu.

He was an actor. He also embellished his wartime record. He was a lowly intelligence officer - not a fighter. A British establishment character. His interest in the occult also raises some questions. He was an actor.

My old man was a set decorator on the Hammer horrors filmed at Elstree Studios. I remember him talking about CL when I was a kid.

Is it just me, or does young Christopher Lee look like Nicholas Cage? Not sure if someone else has asked that here.
