I remember watching some of the first launches on television, both while in a high school class or on television at home.
On December 14, 1983, I was nearing the end of USAF basic military training at Lackland AFB. Our flight had just completed the obstacle course, and we were marching back to the barracks when the sound of jet engines made us all look to the sky. Our flight immediately stopped when we realized it was the special 747 carrying Columbia and was coming in for a landing at Kelly Field on its way to the Kennedy Space Center. We watched it until it was out of sight and continued our marching.
On August 10, 1985, I was stationed at Davis-Monthan AFB, and the special 747 landed with the Challenger. Then again, on November 10, 1985.
On January 22, 1986, the special 747 landed with Columbia.
Just six days later, the Challenger exploded.
We were on our regular rounds and stopped at the base control tower to check the water booster pump. It was my turn to climb the tower stairs. On the way up, I could tell that the guys in a room were excited about something, so I stopped and asked what was going on, and I was told that the Challenger had exploded.
I was out of the service when the Columbia was destroyed.
Such terrible national tragedies!

If one was to search the truth about what really happened to this so called disaster, much to their surprise they would find out that all of the so called astronauts that where on the shuttle are still alive today under different names.
NASA is deceiving the AMERICAN public on a grand scale the shuttle was flown remotely & purposely destroyed on national T V to deceive the AMERICAN PUBLIC.
So NASA would continue to get more funding from AMERICAN tax payers than our own military gets on a yearly basis.
Wake up AMERICA we are being completely deceived by these so called scientist & our own government, do not take any of what you see on these social media platforms as the truth do your own FACT finding & seek the truth.
The truth about what's going on in the world around us is out there all's one has to do is seek and ye shall find.

I remember the space shuttle disaster like it was yesterday. I was 17 years old & working as a phone solicitor selling carpet cleaning service. Our office was very busy calling countless people about carpet cleaning when all of a sudden, our office manager got a phone call from our company's owners to immediately stop calling people. Our office manager yelled for all of us to stop calling people & for those of us who were on the phone with customers to apologize for interrupting them & to let them go. Then with a very shaky voice, our office manager said, The space shuttle Challenger has just exploded! Please join me in prayer to help all those involved to be ok! Then our office manager started praying as his voice became more shaky. It was very serious & very touching. All of us were totally shocked

I was eating lunch with my fellow highly educated co-workers in upstate New York. It was a big noisy corporate cafeteria, and we had a few conversations going on at our table. It was rare to hear announcements over the company-wide P. A. system, so we all got quiet to hear the report that the Challender had exploded. I was stunned by the news, and then aghast when the conversations at our table picked up where they had left off. Everyone except me. I just sat there, unable to do anything but also perplexed that they didn't even take pause to talk about the disaster. They resumed their day as if nothing had happened.

I worked on the space shuttle main engine back in the '80s at Rockydine i spent 10 years working on this vehicle and all the o-rings we're alowed certain amount of leakage in that whole engine and it was acceptable and it ran. These engines and components on it were tested and tested and tested and they passed. this particular accident was caused by the rear motor mount on the bottom of the shuttle. I sat and read all three or four of the books they gave up the telemetry of what happened to the shuttle. The media keeps talking about the leaky o-rings not the problem

I was in college in Massachusetts on that day. There was a television in a teacher's lounge that was broadcasting the launch. I happen to walk in just as it was lifting off and watched as it exploded minutes later. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. How could this happen? I felt so bad for the crew and their families especially Christa McAuliffe given she had two small children and was new to the space program. Someone like herself probably never knew the risks of what could happen.

I will never ever forget being in 2nd grade watching this live in our classroom, and all of the teachers and kids, we all just cried and cried, and they let us go home early, because we were all traumatized seeing what was supposed to be amazing and exciting, a teacher going into space was such a big deal. I will never forget my teacher shrieking when it exploded and none of the kids understood until the principal explained over the loud speaker. So heartbreaking still to this day.

I worked on the Shuttle on board software as a software engineer and then as a manager of software development. I was working on future missions on that day. We only had NASA audio available in our breakroom. Some of us gathered there to listen to the launch. Mood in the room changed to grim looks when communication stopped. Without a TV monitor we couldn't see what was happening, but the halt in communication was immediately very troubling. It was a very sad day.

I was at the office in the San Fernando Valley and we had a PA system that carried the live audio feed so all my employees could listen at their desks to history in the making. When the shuttle exploded, the impact on 70 people was immediate, and they all came into my office because I had a small TV on my desk. It was very painful to watch, and I've never forgotten that day almost 37 years ago.

I saw the smoke trail while standing in a parking lot in Boca Raton. I thought it was a strange occurrence at the time. I didnt know what had happened until I was home and turned on the TV. I was stunned as I realized what I had just witnessed. A dreadful sadness washed over me.
I will never forget that sight and the feeling it created in me.

The head of NASA and the others who over ruled the engineers, should've faced murder charges for their decision. Had any of those astronauts been my close family, I would've gone full blown Medieval on them. Very sick people who shoved that tragedy down our throats and into the lives of the family of the victims.

I was at Hillcrest juvenile hall in Belmont, California in X unit when I heard the space shuttle breaking apart as described by a TV reporter in real time. I didn't see it but I heard it and I still remember. It's a haunting event that should've never happened but did.

Im sure there were people really believing they could make the leap on a scientific level. Ignoring a majority of your peers specifically there to make sure things like this dont happen? Its almost as if it was the media focus that truly drove the launch.

4: 23 - Despite this, the solid fuel strap-on boosters were unaffected and continued to carry the shuttle upwards. WHAT? UNAFFECTED? UPWARDS? REALLY? WHAT SHUTTLE? IT WAS OBLITERATED! GET A CLUE!

I would only hope that the NASA executives who considered their political careers and paychecks more important than the lives of these magnificent astronauts were tried and sentenced to a slow death.
