Adrian Carton de Wiart WWI's Most Unstoppable Soldier

video description

Rating: 4.0; Vote: 1
Bold, brash, and just a little bit bonkers, Adrian Carton de Wiart was heralded as the unkillable soldier for good reason: Nothing slowed him down. As a veteran of some of the 20th century's deadliest conflicts, Carton de Wiart endured everything from serious head wounds to missing limbs but never seemed to consider the immense costs of war

Me at the beginning of the video: Man, this guy's a boss.
Me by the end of the video: Man, this guy is a psycho. (What made up my mind was his offer to assist that stranger with his duel and his suggestion to give a backwoods cremation to the loser. Dude, what the eff. How lucky for Adrien that he lived in the era that he did, to be able to take part in the two biggest wars in history. But I still say he was a nut. Tough as nails and a force of nature on the battlefield, but c'mon. you gotta be a bit of a nut to live that life.

- The brutal battle of The Nek/Lone pine at Gallipoli in WW1. The Nek is particularly weird and brutal for the Anzacs - 6 Victoria crosses
- the lost USA 77th in the Ardenne the list battalion. - several medal of honourable
- the Alamo
- Audie Murphy and Patrick Custer the most decorated soldiers

He probably wasn't brave, he was honestly probably a little crazy, but in control of it. You'd be surprised how many people are like that and how much you can do when you stop caring about whether you live or die

I am Belgian and never heard of him before except of his cousin Henri Carton de Wiart who was a Belgian prime minister from 1920 to 1921. He would be a great character for a movie though: p

Cool, no doubt. Nothing about Alivn York from WWI? Shockingly nothing about Audie Murphy from WWII on your site either.
Your videos on TR are good though, so good on you there.

I love this Adrian guy kinda reminds me of myself sometimes. But I call it Robot brained. Like you're set out to just do the task regardless if you get a finger chopped off.

Id love to see his reaction to the world today. Im sure he would make sure hes using the proper pronouns. Maybe he would have died his hair blue too.
reply

Yeah sure he might have been a badass, but in my opinion anyone who thinks war and killing is fun is not a person that should be respected.

You should do a video about when Julius Caesar getting captured by pirates and swore to return to kill every last one of them. And did!

He was more like rambo rather than a terminator. war was in his blood. thats rambo. amazing bravery. war was just his business.

Would have been good if the British ranks were used rather than the American, however a fantastic video about a fantastic man
