Hugh Glass 'The Revenant' Protagonist Was Even More Badass In Real Life

In the 2015 film 'The Revenant', we follow the harrowing journey of Hugh Glass in a semi-autobiographical story of incredible survival. The real Hugh Glass, an American frontiersman, fur trapper and trader, hunter, and explorer is even more extraordinary than the film portrays. The details of what he endured will blow your mind.

so where was he going and why was anyone responsible for his life after being attacked by a bear? he spent all this time on a vengeance trip when he should've taken his ass home.
he traveled hundreds of miles for vengeance on someone who wasn't responsible for this grown man. they helped him a lot for someone on death's door and he thanks them by turning into Rambo?
I'm sure he wouldn't be alive without the days of help he received before being left behind
he sounds like a psychopath

I remember A similar story about another fur trapper named John Johnson or, Crow Killer who swore vengeance on all Crow and would eat their livers after killing them for the killing of his wife from the Flathead tribe while he was out hunting. They made the story into a movie in 1972 called The Legend of Jeremiah Johnson, I think he also gets mauled by a bear and left for dead but who know's if that's true or just Hollywood embellishment.

Why are you still using the i term its Native American. Jfc
I don't buy the story about the pawnee tribe and pine needles and setting him on fire. It makes no sense. And why would him offering them something save his life when they could have killed him and took it. Come on. And they went from killing his friend to live w us for some dye? COME ON!
And his injuries couldn't have been as bad as you (or he) described.

what an insane time in history. People these days complain about having to walk a few blocks while these guys were taveling 100's of miles with no roads or trails and there were all different types of Native Americans, some friendly some deadly and you won't know until you can talk to them. Scary as heck.

Glass never ultimately getting his revenge on Fitzgerald would actually have made a better ending, I think, for the film. Not that the original is bad, but I think that's very powerful, to go through all that and be left unfulfilled. It's the true cruelty of life.

I watched the revenant without knowing it was a true story and i was thinking i loved the movie, but he had too much plot armour tbh
and now im finding out this actually happened and he had more plot armour in real life

Quite a story, but I think that's what it is. A story. He definitely had a lot of adventures, but some of this, if not a lot, are fiction. I've read a lot about mountain men, but often these events get stretched over time.

What I find most amazing is that you can describe the way the natives tortured Hugh's friend, yet I'll bet you're the same sort of person who whines about what the evil Europeans did to the natives.

This video is 4 years old, I'm glad it popped up. I've never really sat and paid attention to this movie and I love DiCaprio. I'm totally gonna search for it tomorrow and give it a watch.

humans can survive anything against all odds. Its a testament to his intelligence and willpower that he survived the pawnee capture and living with them ensured his later survival.

this is a cool video but your dismissive and sarcastic remarks intended to insult the white men while totally giving the natives a pass on their murder shit is annoying and ridiculous.

Had a America history teacher tell the class of Hugh Glass back in 1978. The history teacher was a great teacher. He told the class alot of history of people in American history.

I was really looking forward to watching The Revenant and it was one of the most over hyped and overrated movies i have ever seen. .Dicaprio is over rated

I heard a rumor that in 2015, after seeing The Revenant, some guy legally changed his last name to Glass and his balls turned half brass overnight.
reply

He crawled through a years worth of hell, only to be told 'Yeah, naw'.
That ending statement almost made me squirt tea out of my fkkking nose.

reply

Me personally, I wouldnt have let that slide. Id have just killed the guy right there and just face the consequences, cause no way in hell bro

Hello Ladies look at your man, now back to Hugh Glass, now back to your man. Sadly, he isn't Hugh Glass. /Insert heavy metal old spice whistle/

At the start, natives were very dangerous an sadistic. Of course it was their home turf. They gradually became less of a threat.
reply

Bad ass what a crap ending after all that he didn't even get revenge what an anticlimax no wonder they changed it in the movie
