What Life Was Like for a Medieval Crusader

Like any great conflict, the Crusades have been the subject of myths and misinformation for years. While few still believe the propaganda that justified the fighting, various false facts have proliferated over the years, concerning everything from the motivations of the Crusaders to their reception in Arab lands. It's easy to understand how both storytellers and audiences get swept up in the romance of the Crusades. The epic sweep, the clash of cultures, and the stunning aggression still thrill us today. But what was life actually like for a medieval crusader? Of course, the answer varies. The wars were radically different experiences for a noble knight than they would be for a common farmer

I wanna dress as a crusader at renn festI have all the stuff in my cart for the costume but I wanna bring I flag. Im not Catholic or orthodox I think me and my family are prestetent idk Im only 13 lol. Well anyways Im going to buy the Christian flag but it was made in the 1800s and the Catholic flag was made in the crusader days. I would rather have the Christian one though so oh well not 100% historically accurate lol

Holy shit, some of these stories sound like three stooges sketches. Its funny how modern people use the crusaders as anti-furry symbols of knighthood and honor when in reality they were an incompetent gaggle of peasants with crosses sewn onto their tunics drowning in rivers because they wont dismount their horses.
Makes you think.

Some emperor in the Middle Ages: bro I can step into this stream itll be fine bro!

You can't go back to Constantinople because they are waiting in Istanbul. I can't hear anything about Constantinople without singing that song and then it's stuck there for days lol. The best part is seeing a friend an I sing it and the curse is passed on to them now it's stuck in their head lol.

I guaranteed God didn't approve of the Crusaders. Killing his ppl because they believed in a different religion.
God presented himself in different forms because of the differences in culture. God knows that we all don't relate the same so he takes on different ways and practices.

King Philip II (1212) was king of France, not Spain. The king Philip II of Spain was the son of emperor Charles V (the first person to have an empire where the sun never sets) and lived in the sixteenth century. That's also the person depicted on the paintings you used in this video.

Probably the crusades began not only for political or economical reasons, but also in order to clear some deep secret about the true gnostic origins of christianism, and their links with certain esoteric traditions. Check on yt: The amazing symbology of Knights Templars

You have errors in your videos lad such as you said the crusade occurred in the 1095 - 1271 instead of 1291 and there is Philip ii of Spain (He lived centuries later after the levantine crusades) instead that should be Philip ii of France get your videos accurately

The crusades were part of a conflict between democratic Western traditions, and esoteric traditions of the East, that includes the Battle of Thermopolae, and stretches down to the present day, It is an ancient animosity, that mankind seems unable to resolve.

So Salahudin let go of pow which werent combatants such as doctors or priest. and killed pows that where combatants and where known to turn to cannibalism. Sounds fair to me what did the knights temples do to their non combatant pow or did they have them?

How could a medieval knight live with themselves? Literally hacking men to death. I get that the circumstances called for it. I cant even comprehend the amount of ptsd, depression, and pain these men would have, living and dying on the battlefield.

Man you missed a golden comedy moment!
Knights without horses? Come on man! Monty Python & the dude pretending to ride a horse with another dude running alongside him banging coconut shells together!

Heres a thought: How about a tallying of all the castles in Europe by nation, like a playlist of frech castles over time, followed by british and so on. Its just a thought, yall have a good day.

Was guarding some flag on a boat in Holy Land until a drunk monk without a ring finger started running towards me. One hit on that maniac and he fell in water and instantly drowned. Crazy times!

The real reason why Saladin hated the Templars was because Renald de Chatillon kept raiding trade routes when there was a peace treaty between Saladin with the King of Jerusalem.

Set the stage for todays issues. So the success was ensuring hatred for generations. Probably remain that way until an asteroid takes out humankind

Christ. has there ever been a period on earth when there was actually any peace? Seems like mankind has been killing itself since the year zero.

When you think about it, the crusades never ended. Still today armies are sent to the Middle East in the name of Israel.
