Worst trend today is wearing cheap, fast fashion. You rely on slave labor from 3rd world countries to wear cheap clothes that dont fit you at all and fall apart in the wash just to be trendy. Its so hard to just find a nice pair of pants or a nice blouse because 1/2 the sites are Chinese and the pictures lie about how it looks. Teenagers spend all their paychecks on these sites and boot them up the algorithm to look trendy and then diss fashion from 10 years ago not realizing they are just repeating trends from 20 years ago. I hate fast fashion.

One day i'll attempt to make one for a character of mine. who's a fish. I currently have a black one that's absolutely lovely, but doesn't fit well around my mask, plus it's now completely the wrong color with her new design! I'm slowly accumulating what i need for her design. slowly!
Also ruffs are super comfortable, the one i have is thick and makes me neck feel protected from. threats? Well. you never know i guess

One item which fails people's memories is the cod piece. Even fans of Black Adder don't recall the jokes, which apparently went over their heads. When I point out the paintings of men of that time period, and the fact they have a bejeweled erections, they look at me as if I am making this up.
Even the knights had metal cods. So, I think this would definitely fit in Wierd History's portfolio.

But the original reason to come up with the ruffle collars was to stop head lice from crawling down the body. There was no chemical lice treatment. Its the same creation of a neck tie on a three piece suit. The tie stops the head lice from crawling down the body. Why they never gotten rid of ties since the chemical lice treatments being available on the market makes no sense.

Guys, you really need to do actual research on this stuff before you opine on it and give unsuspecting viewers the impression that you're presenting facts. You're not. You're spouting personal opinions and don't cite any sources. If this is representative of all of your content, you're potentially spreading dangerous misinformation.

In the 19th century certain citizens of the United States wore a very noticeable high collar that was separate from the coat or jacket. Only it wasn't a fashion statement made out of lace and no one dared to make fun of it. It was worn to protect from saber slashes and the wearer was called Marine. Oorah!

The clothing of common people rarely goes out of style. Its just replaced by better materials. The rich, however, have had to make a constant display of their idiocy throughout the years for our entertainment. The more money you have the more of a clown you become.

I finished watching Cate Blanchet's Queen Elizabeth! Now my curiousity about this collar was answered! Thank you for this video!
Can I suggest a fashion statement about women's petticoats? I want to know more.

I'm a costume designer who's studied fashion history and watching this video is a painful experience. Almost everything in it is completely wrong. Does a drunk hamster do your research, weird history?

I'd assume majority of aesthetics from royalty and upper-class are from hiding disease scars/symptoms and showing off that their clothing can be restricting and ridiculous as another show of their status.

Worst fashion trends? Jeans with huge holes in them and acid wash jeans, booty shorts, and oversized shirts and sweatshirts that have the seam where the shoulders should be halfway down the arm.

The most useless fashion trend we have today, is socks with heels. No matter what village you come from please don't wear Nike socks with pink heels. Please.

The ruff reminds me of the beaded rings worn around the necks of some African tribes like the Maasai. They look like the rings of Saturn.
