You got a rare thumbs down from me for your repeated use of the name 'Bloody Mary'. Just to put things into perspective here are some historical figures.
The death tolls of the reigns of her father, her brother, and her own, with the average number, per year, of 'religious dissidents' killed.
Henry VIII 72, 000 divided by 37 years = 1945. 94
Edward VI 5, 500 divided by 6 years = 916. 66
Mary I 284 divided by 5 years = 56. 8
As you can see, Queen Mary killed just over 6% of the total her brother managed and not quite 3% of her father's total. In other words, the Catholic Queen was by far and away more merciful than her bloodthirsty Protestant father and brother.
Her sister, Elizabeth, who succeeded her, killed very few Catholics in England, but estimates of the Irish Catholics killed, dispossessed or exiled under her rule run as high as 1. 5 million, so even her father and her brother pale before her lust for the blood of Catholics.

Actually, Lady Jane Grey was all but pardoned by Queen Mary, but, she kept plotting in spite of her knowledge that Mary was planning on letting her out of the tower. She, while in the tower of London, after Mary marched through London rallying and being received like a modern day Celebrity, insisted on plotting against the Queen several times.
Its true that upon first learning about Edward making her his heir she cried and was scared.
But once she married Dudley, and leant her ear to the scheming in laws, and after being Queen for a couple days, she was quite hesitant to give up. She kept on, and on, and on until Mary had no choice but to execute her.
The crown was never hers and the way I see it, Edward was and is responsible for her beheading!
Queen Mary was the rightful heir. Period. And Jane schemed until she lost her head!

Mary I was not the same as Mary Queen of Scots btw but they were first cousins Mary Tudor, Henry's sister was married to the King of France for 6 months before the old man died and she held the title as the Dowager Queen of France for her life. Shortly after she married an officer/Solider/friend of Henry when he came to retrieve her from France, and they were fined heavily for it, as they did not ask permission and Henry thought she married beneath her. I don't blame you for getting confused as there are too many Marys' in this damn family

Can you please do an episode on my great Uncle, Jim Thorpe. He was a Professional Athlete and Gold medal Olympian (the first Native American to do so) and when he died his third wife stole his body on the fourth day of his religious burial ceremony and shopped his body around the country until PA bought it and named a town after him. The family has sued to get his body back to finish his burial rites but the Supreme Court denied it in Oct 2015, citing it was museum property.

It's really crazy at the old times. Everytime I watch or read about old monarchs' history and learnt that at that time, a +/- 10 year-olds either had already led a freaking kingdom, wars, or revolts, and then getting their ass ready to get beheaded or hanged; or already got divorced twice and had five miscariages, I be like Damn, kid! If you're born these days you'd still be playing Minecraft or making tiktok vids!

I feel so sad for her. She was just a child who got used for other people's advantages. She didn't choose to have power, and she didn't even want it. Even though she was devastated she took responsibility and tried her best. She got killed because of other people's issues. And to make it even worse, people forget about her. She isn't remembered as a Queen. I think of her as a Queen, and that's what she deserves.

I admire Jane you would think Mary would get it I mean Mary was fighting for her own beliefs and refused to cave to the bullying of others including her own father to give up her beliefs and here she is doing the same to Jane that her own father did to her in trying to bully Jane into changing to a Catholic something she did not believe in

Imagine a world where religion never existed. It has caused millions of deaths throughout history. One person, who believes in one made up character in the sky, is killing someone, cause they believe in a different made up character. I hope there is a day where religion fizzles out.

Her parents were terrible actually. Jane was beaten to submission by them. Her time with Catherine Parr who was then married to Thomas Seymour was her most happiest. That ended with Catherine's death Jane was heartbroken because that meant going home back to her awful parents.

Why, at 4: 25, do you show the wrong segment of Paul Delaroche's painting of Lady Jane Greys execution? You show her lady in waiting, not Lady Jane herself.
A very moving painting. I saw it years ago while visiting London, and still remember the effect it had upon me

Nothing wrong with your facts and your entertaining spin on them, but can you not do better with the visuals? Random castles, wrong royals, miscast television actors, the list is endless - and it makes what you are explaining very confusing, when really it isn't.

Ugh, that part about her struggle to find the chopping block to rest her head on isn't true! It was a painting by artist Paul Delaroche that popularized this idea that she struggled. His painting was done in 1833 and Jane died 1554 you do the math.

Jane was in the wrong place at the wrong time. The person to lay the blame is the Duke of Northumberland who wanted to gain more power for his family. It makes me sad that he used a teenager for his own selfish reasons. I hear her tale and I cry.

dudley's son asking to be made king makes it clear what the plan originally was. jane probably realized this as well and declining him was a move they weren't expecting at all and it definitely must have thrown them off. she was smart.

Henry did not kill several wives -- he killed two. Please stop calling her Bloody Mary - -that was a nickname given by Protestants to destroy her reputation - -and the fact is that her father killed more Catholics than she did Protestants.

She was only 16 at the time of her execution
Some people romantacize the medieval time
People in the past were extremely cruel
The thought of cutting off a tenth grade girl's head would disgust anyone right now

I saw the movie when I was quite young. It was confusing and I was so sad - that's all I remember! But from the clips I had no idea Westley from the Princess Bride was Dudley. 10 year old me didn't hold on to facts well.

I read Alison Weir's book Innocent Traitor, Jane Grey's story. Her parents were crappy and Mary turned her back on her for a man that didn't even want her. Jane got the short end of the stick all her life

Lady Jane wasn't ambitious. She was a pawn the schemes and plans of others. Thus, she and her husband's execution is that much more tragic. They didn't ask for the crown. It was thrust upon them.
