Most people will, at one point or another, wonder about the worst and most painful ways to die - which includes scientists. But these particular scientists decided to think outside of the box. Through this work, they have realized these excruciating ways to die are incredibly unlikely to happen. Still, they're bound to make anyone cringe. In the middle ages there was a torture method called the strappado which involved tying the suspect's hand behind her/his back, then suspending the victim in the air by means of a rope tied to the wrists. This procedure often dislocated both shoulders. To intensify the pain this inflicted, the patient might be bounced by the rope; or weights might be tied to the victim's ankles. One advantage of this method was that it left no external mark on the body of the accused.

Scaphism is the worst by a long shot. It can last up to 14 days. By then, they've started eating away at their brains. People would say they could hear/feel them in their head. Imagine slowly losing your ability to comprehend things as well as everything about you that makes you you, being totally aware of the fact that it's because bugs are eating your brains. You would lose the will to wish for death before death even came.

I think that amongst all of the Weird history videos, this was the worst. Completely abstract ways to die mixed with the way people were dying over the ages. Treated too lightly. There is no yayks to burning alive. As a person who wrote my master thesis about torture, and ways to die thought the ages, that was badly done. Likes are not everything.

I feel like some of these would be so quick they'd be painless.
Implosion (Mariana trench)
Decompression (Byford Dolphin)
Both gruesome, yes. But almost instantaneous.
I suspect the same would apply to the neutron star, but I don't know enough science to say for sure.

Scaphism is very likely just an ancient urban legend, it was reported by Plutarch, who was Greek not Persian (and the Greeks kinda hated the Persians) and got his account of it from someone who was basically like 'I heard about it from my friend's cousin's manicurist's nephew'

Oh enough plz. The new voice is here to stay and many of us find him easy to listen to and no annoying jokes that fall flat. Actually I'm wondering if there's 3 voices. If there is WELCOME TO YOU.

Actually a little surprised that you didn't mention Prince Vlad Dracul's favorite method, impalement on a large stake through the anus. Oh yeah, that would probably get you demonetized.

The evidence for scaphisim Comes from a Greek source. There are no Persian sources to collaborate it. So it’s more than likely Greek propaganda or possibly just a popular rumor.

This is more entertainment than science. There’s no if you somehow survive with most of these. Many of them in fact will kill you before your mind can even process what has happened.

I knew a guy who thought it would be fun to toss live bullets into a fire. One of them exploded, fire hit his sleeve and he went up in flames. It was a horrific way to die

Y’all obsessed over the narrator is ridiculous. This guy has an extremely similar delivery as the main narrator. Y’all are just being dicks to be dicks.

If this is what your content is being reduced to, y'all should consider slowing the pace of video uploads. This is terrible content.

Mama always told me that if you can't say something non-political don't say anything at all. Lord knows it's tempting but.

How hard can it be to show 98% of the planet what a feet/foot is. You know that Imperial measurements belong in a museum.
