I know the world loved Steve Irwin but his death was so extremely worse for us Aussies that loved our bogan & still using Aussie slang as well as the 100% abbreviations us Aussies use instead of the full world or as we'd call it Strayan which is our version of English. I also along with the majorities of us Strayans were dirty on of our federal government for not protecting one of their own in Julian Assange & just proving to us all how badly we were America's lap dogs & not have a spine for ourselves. we also starting around that time not just being appalled by our own Govt but that's when is Aussies thoughts on the US started to be not a great one & our thoughts have kept dwindling over what we think about the US over the years. as we say, we don't need to be mates to allies & the relationship has always & still is one sided. we follow the US into every country the invade to start war but when asked for some help in return steadying relations in our part of the Pacific & we were told. NO! U can sort those coups & civil wars in the Pacific Island nations on ur own. glad our Siblings across the ditch in New Zealand are always there for us & vice versa

I was reading that someone was born in 06. It dawned on me that all of a sudden I'm old. I graduated high school in 1978. Time flies by so fast after graduation. Make the most of your life while you have the time. Old age creeps up on you before you blink. I walked through the cemetery last week, they chased me with shovels! I'm talkin OLD! I miss the good ol days. Who knew that life would turn out like it did I'm embarrassed and ashamed to be an American. Nobody realizes what trump will do to this country with unchecked power. God help us all!

Man, I swear that Devil Wears Prada movie gave me a Mandela Effect, well before they were talked about. One day, my girlfriend at the time comes over with a movie, and is super excited to watch it. We sit on my bed and play it. During the opening credits, I’m like we already watched this. She’s adamant we hadn’t, definitely didn’t go to the theater to watch it. And apparently it was just released on DVD that day. But I swear on everything to this day, it was the second time we sat in my room and watched that movie.

The day that Steve Irwin died, it was Labor Day & I was off of work & we heard that sad news that morning. Later that day, my wife got bucked off of her horse, and hit her head on the ground and was knocked out for a bit. When she came to, I asked her some questions to see if she was with it. I asked her if she knew that Steve Irwin had died that day & when she didn't know that, I knew she had a concussion and she was going to have to go to the hospital to get checked out. This makes the day unforgettable for me.

People are gonna be begging for PS3 prices for their game consoles, by this time next year. But anyway, you totally forgot those box-shaped vans that I saw everywhere the whole year! The Scion xB. and no Snakes on a Plane And Jon Arbuckle finally got the vet Liz in the Garfield comic strips that year!
Oh yeah, instead of a Trix Yogurt commercial (it wasn't just children who watched TV in the 2000s, it should have been HEAD ON, APPLY DIRECTLY TO THE FOREHEAD!

As an Aussie I can remember exactly where I was when I found out Steve Irwin died. I was in the playground at school, my mum had come to pick me up and told me the news. I didn’t believe it until I saw the news later (because even as an 11 year old apparently I was sceptical of rumours. I watched the funeral on TV as well. He was such a hero to me.

Great video. It was also the year I entered the world, with many, many wonderful shows and concert tours coming to an end. It was like society was about to enter the worst era of our lifetime!
(Not for Wii and PS3 veterans however, who have every homebrew installed with a whole lot of customizable console features that many find it, very entertaining)

I noticed on this video, you spent time talking about other years in the future, instead of just focusing on 2006. Disney bought Pixar (and they also purchased Lucas Films from George Lucas in 2012. Blue's Clue's Aired it's last show (but they rebooted the show with a new host in 2024. Mike Wallace retires (but he actually kept working and died in 2012)

I am very surprised that Zinedine Zidane's headbutt during the 2006 World Cup Final vs Italy didn't make the video. What makes this incident infamous is that it was Zidane's final match & directly turned the tide of the match in favor of Italy who won the World Cup 5-3 on penalty kicks.

All I remember about 2006 is that I had a short term relationship with a lady who was natural Double D. best 3 months of my life haha. Sorry take that back, I bought my first pair of Converse and still have them in 2024. I wear Vans now but I'll never forget them, I mean her.

2006 made us sad when the Crocodile Hunter died and Pluto stopped being a planet. But we did get two new consoles. I still remember the Wii.
2007 will have lots going on. iPhone, The Simpsons Movie, England under water and 300 Spartans!

2006 also marked the 15th anniversary of the Sonic the Hedgehog series. And boy, was it TERRIBLE. We got 4 games during this year like Sonic Riders, Sonic Rivals, that HORRIBLE GBA remake/port of Sonic 1, and the INFAMOUS Sonic 06.

I spent over two months of 2006 working for a touring band that went from coast to coast in the US and Canada. Totally unique experience living out of a duffel bag for that time. but definitely not one that sounds fun now!

I remember in the 3rd grade 1982, it was asked in science class what the smallest planet in the solar system. I said Pluto. My teacher corrected’ me that Pluto was about the size of Venus. Talk about vindication.

Man. I graduated high school in 2006. Back when LAN parties were still a thing, you had to wait until 9pm to make phone calls without using your minutes and gas was sooooo much cheaper.

My fondest memory of 2006 was September 4th. I remember the news about Steve Irwin, and that's still heartbreaking, but that same day, my oldest daughter was born. She would have loved Steve.
