The Tragic And Cursed History Of Two Guns, Arizona

Two Guns, AZ, is one of the many cursed ghost towns scattered throughout the Southwest. It's a long-abandoned town, but tourists still stop to see its ruins along Old Route 66. Set on the rim of a canyon, the strange little town was the sight of a tragedy involving two Native American tribes. A man named Harry E. Miller showed up in the late '20s, leased property from the Cundiffs, and constructed a full-blown tourist trap. He played up the area's turbulent history and claimed he was full-blooded Apache. It's unclear if this claim was true. But some wonder: was the downfall of Two Guns Miller's fault alone, or did the land have a curse long before he blew into town?

This video brings back a distant memory. In 1970 I was traveling from Mina, Nevada to Blacksburg, Virginia. I made no stops except for food and gas, with the exception of the stop I made in TWO GUNS, ARIZONA when officer Peabody was kind enough to pull me over for doing 70 in a 55mph zone. I was in a hurry to get back to VA Tech because of a dear John letter I had just received from my then girlfriend. And yes, I was too late, I did get dumped. But I do consider myself lucky because, being 20-years old and amped up by all my youthful hormones, I had just slowed from 95mph when I saw the construction area ahead. Who knows, Officer Peabody may have saved my skin because I slowed down a bit after that. But, I still made the entire 2, 600 mile trip in just over 42 hours. This was a personal record which I never intend to repeat. Officer Peabody (how could one ever forget that name) had to be a county COP, because after seeing this video I cannot imagine Two Guns having its own police department.

The chronology may be a bit off. They tried to get a post office, but the government didn't want to be associated with anything as violent as Two Guns. So they changed the town's name back to what it previously had been. Okay. But later Two Guns Miller appeared. How did they know to name the town after somebody who hadn't yet arrived?

Gila monster is Spanish. So the 'g' is pronounced as 'h', HEE-la. We made a brief trip along hwy 66 about 1960 before the interstate was built. I don't remember either Canyon Lands or Two Guns, but I do remember the Jackrabbit Trading Post.

U guys should do a video on pere Cheney, Michigan. It's a ghost town in Roscommon. It's supposedly super haunted. I've always wanted to go up there, but it's really hard to get to. An entire town died off though. It's a really interesting story.

Always loved the name driving by it on the way to Flagstaff Arizona. I think there was a little gas station there. Always wondered how they got the name. But I guess the name wasn't so hard to figure why.

Terrifying 3 word phrase?
I love you- said by someone interested in me.
Enough to make me skip town!
I have enough going on in my life. I don't need/want that hassle on top of it all!

That does seem pretty crazy that the town keeps burning down after some dick head sold the remains of people who were killed in a fire but how did all those fires start in the first place?

You arent supposed to talk about waring native Americans. It doesnt fit the narrative that they were just a bunch of peaceful, pacifist, nature lovers that got persecuted by the white man.

Turns out Earl Cundiff was my 6th cousin. All Cundiffs are related, as its a misspelling of the name Condit from 17th century England. His is the most unique Cundiff story I've heard!

I had a flat tire at 2am in a ghost town of Cuervo, NM along I40 in NM a few years back. I didnt encounter anything weird but it sure was spooky. Never changed a tire faster in my life.

I didn't know they even HAD a history. I just remember occassionally going past it while riding in my dad's car. Creepy.
Psssst. Also, Gila is pronounced Hila. ;)

Imagine being the kind of douche bag who would sell the skulls of people as souvenirs for tourists.
Disrespectful.
Like wow that's impressively disrespectful.

Yes weird post office.
Especially when they bought enough 9 millimeter bullets to kill everyone in Arizona?
What does the post office need so many rounds?

I'd like to know about the reason there is a two guns and 11 miles away is a twin arrow. Been seeing this al my life driving between Pasadena, CA and Roswell NM.

I'll give you a three word prase that strikes fear, well at least if you have siblings; Gonna tell mum/dad! Oh and please make a video about Emma Goldman!

Not a town but a road side attraction. The site does not support the claims. The Carnival barkers made it all up. The cave will not fit horses and men.

This is amazing I hope there's more small town or local to share around about Arizona
