The movies have been kind to historical pirates, giving the entire practice a sheen of excitement and romance. Sure, pirates were thieves and criminals, but in a charming anti-hero sort of way. In literature and films, being kidnapped by pirates and taken to sea is often a passport to adventure, rather than an invitation to be brutally killed and have your corpse dumped in the ocean. But it turns out that second thing would have been much more likely. To read More, Go here:

When I picture pirates. I picture men with badges and uniforms, and a lot of them drive around with flashing blue lights on their vehicles with sirens. They will pull you over if they perceive you doing anything they like so they can extort money out of you. They won't kill you unless you resist them. As long as you stay calm and don't do anything to scare or offend them. They will let you live with a smile on their face. People talk about pirates like they are a thing of the past, but I at least see a few of them most days.

The most famous victim of pirates was a 25-year-old Julius Caesar.
Young JC was taken as a hostage, but proved himself a valuable ransom. He spent time charming them with poetry and music, and the captain gave him safe passage home.
He then returned and murdered them all.
When his former captor asked why, Caesar simply replied you are cut-throats, now I shall cut yours.
Granted, this all comes from Caesar’s own account, so take it as you will.

Inspired by the Weird History videos about cereal and Halloween.
I was Orangebeard, Garfield's Halloween costume, for one Halloween in the 80s.

1: 14 Tom Brady now owns part of the NFL team the Raiders.
They were the only NFL team that ever considered to be my favorite until they were demolished by the Buccaneers in 2003 Super Bowl, at which I concluded that they would never win the Super Bowl again (21 years later I am 100% right about that.

I hate to be that guy, but actually pirates go waaaaaaay back. Vikings were technically pirates and the ancient Greeks and Romans fought against an group known as the Sea People. So the Golden Age was late in the days of Pirates. Even today Somalia has several Pirate groups.

You guys really trusted a General History of the Pyrates! It's legit a diffamation piece written by five different authors, full of exaggerated and invented accounts and slander against political parties and people they didn't like. Its not a good source at all!

The death of L'olonois was as spectacular as his life. When he was captured by the indigenous tribe:
Not knowing who he was, nor what he had done, they tore him limb from limb, casting his body parts into the fire and his ashes into the air.

According to one of my greatgrandmothers (a Morgan - _not_ an uncommon name, Capt. Henry Morgan is one of my ancestors - on the side, an uncle of numerous greats. Tbh, it's not a story we are either quick to believe nor do we want to!

Not other bad boys but I have a curiosity. Southern plantation mansions would name their homes - like Tara from the novel and movie Gone with the Wind. Who else gave names to their mansions Any New Englanders
Midwesterners

1: 14 Speaking of Raiders, the only NFL jersey I ever owned was that of Tim Brown, the star receiver of the Oakland Raiders.
He also graduated as a sociology major.
I also dressed up as him for Halloween in 2001.

Hardly surprising given the outright brutality in most of the world at the time. Every atrocity the pirates committed was being done far worse and on a much larger scale by the governments of the period.

Please do a video on how many times former U. S. Presidents publicly talked about other mens' penises, starting with the very, very weird one who did it yesterday. Might be a short video.

Hell, there’s probably some instances of Americans being tried for piracy. All they would have to do is use a boat to commit a property crime on or near the water.

The decline in pirates is alarming. Global climate change directly tracks the decline
The world needs more pirates now to save us from climate collapse
