I love how many people promote evolution. until it doesnt fit a world view.
A spider cannot be large because of oxygen levels and bookcase lungs and exoskeleton. Ok. Got it.
BUT you are assuming giant spiders HAVE book case lungs, assuming it has only an exoskeleton AND assuming it hasnt evolved a different way to breathe.
Furthermore we all hear about how shit spider breathing is and yet they do insane crap. Spiders can jump, some run extremely fast, some build webs for hours, some dig holes, some climb walls and roam land for miles, and best of all some spiders can hold their breath for 30 minutes or longer under water. Now. Whens the last time a human held their breath for 30 minutes? Exactly. Again this is with a SHIT breathing system they can do these things.
Theres also the exo skeleton argument. Where essentially they say a exoskeleton would crush itself because of weight and gravity. um what? So if i make a exoskeleton 1 ft in size out of plastic, for absolutely no reason the same model scaled up to 20ft using the same plastic proportionate to its size would crumble? What? A large exoskeleton would be held up by larger muscles, a larger body would have larger book lungs. Notice a house cat is much smaller than a lion. But the lion is just fine.
A fly is much smaller than a grasshopper. But both function fine.
My point is this. Something like a Jba fofi (congo spider reported to be 2-5ft in leg span) could exist AS something NOT 1: 1 to the spiders today but evolved into something different LIKE a spider.

I would rather it if they were bigger. For one they would produce less because as a bigger creature they would need to consume less resources to maintain balance or they wouldn-t survive. Meaning less babies. For two they would be so much easier to spot and stay away from, like other big animals we stay away from (lions, bears, crocodiles.

In reality spiders could never get as large as humans, as the body gets bigger the legs would get bigger as well but the legs are not going to get thick enough to support the weight of the body.

And I thought xenomorphs were a problem. An army of spiders would be probably just as equally tough if they were all human sized all with different abilities quirks and levels of intelligence.

They'd go the way of wolves and bears; they'd be hunted to extinction if they didn't learn to back off. Humans are very good at protecting ourselves and figuring solutions out on the fly.

Let's put it this way; if you saw a spider the size of us; running would be no use to you at all. They would move at roughly 300mph. so you wouldn't get far. Be thankful, be very thankful.

god i get sick of people saying how amazing spider webs are. well if theyre so amazing why does my lighter take care of them. just sounds like a job for a pyromaniac and sorted!

I saw a movie in the 1970's entitled, -The Giant Spider Invasion-. I'm 58yrs old now, and I still have nightmares about this movie. Hey, what's that crawling up my arm!

Sounds like my dream the other night, although these ones could talk and if you didn-t behave and paid your bills they wrapped you up in webs and carted you off for dinner -

If any insect were the size of humans, then they both wouldn't be able to get enough oxygen into their cells, and their exoskeleton wouldn't be strong enough to support them
reply

Not gonna lie they are spooky but I appreciate these little monsters for how they help humans controlling pests. Just don't walk over my face while I'm asleep!

This doesn't sound like an undesirable reality ngl
We'd have bullet proof silk and big game that tastes like crab, who could say no to that?

If spiders WERE this big, I'd be carrying VERY big calibre weapons; .454 casull, .700 nitro, .577 t-rex etc. NO WAY am I gonna be using bug spray!
reply

Come on humans! You are not afraid of us arachnids, your fear comes from a sutile red spider who walks around when you sleep naively across 4D.
reply

Ether we all unite and kill them all and and the space exploration booms
Or they kill us all and earth turns into one big hive web

reply

I feel as though is spiders were the same size as humans, inventors would be making a lot of tools to protect is from them.
reply

I set off bug bombs and that kills most spiders around the house and spray vinegar as that kills spiders quickly as well.
reply

Some theories says since insects have exoskeleton the will crush under their own weight if they are in our size
reply

They actually have spiders that big in Solomans islands, no wonder why half of the frest is unexplored.

My Grandma hates spiders and if there-s a spider a size of a human, it-ll be my Grandma-s worst nightmare!
