Olympus Mons is the tallest mountain in our Solar System. This giant volcano is located on Mars. Its base covers the same amount of land as Arizona and it is three times taller than Mount Everest. If you strapped on your space suit and managed to make it all the way to the summit of Olympus Mons, what would you see?

If you were to climb the highest mountain in the Solar System, you would be climbing Olympus Mons on Mars. It stands at a height of approximately 22 km (13. 67 miles) which is about three times taller than Mount Everest. The mountain is a shield volcano and is not only the highest mountain in the solar system, but also the largest volcano and the second highest mountain of any kind in the Solar System, after Rheasilvia central peak on asteroid Vesta.
Climbing Olympus Mons would be a very challenging and dangerous task. The thin atmosphere of Mars would make it difficult to breathe, and the extreme cold temperatures would make it difficult to survive. Additionally, the mountain is made of volcanic rock, which could be unstable and difficult to climb. The trip from Earth would also be challenging, as it would take several months to travel to Mars and the technology for landing and climbing is not yet fully developed.

You should give measurements both in metric and imperial instead of just metric. I know it's trendy for Americans to give measurements using the metric system, but it's kind of inconsiderate and annoying trying to calculate back to a system you are familiar with.

It's much easier to climb it than Mt. Everest since Olympus' bottom is very steep then gentle slope all the way to the top. The only difficulties on climbing it are just dust storms and it might take more than 6 months to reach the top.

I can't wait to go to Mars if I have enough money like starship is doing that right now but it's still being tested I wonder if they're going to be landed near Olympus mons and then we're going to get the family climb Olympus moons
reply

why not from the very beginning, you should land at the top of mt. olympus mons? so you wont be bothered to do mountain trekking since this mountain has a flat surface unlike mt. everest
reply

Mount Everest height is 125km under the ground and m. t everest height is 9km above sea level and olympus mons height is 4000km under the ground and olympus mons 22km above sea leavel

A cool episode would be: What if the earth-s core became an entirely different metal, like titanium, copper, neodymium or even magnetite, the most magnetic metal known?

Is this a joke. In acient believes there are mountains fare more bigger than this one. There are bigger mountes in ower solar system. Nasa is hiding many secrets.

What if you do not m-st-rbate for a year or what if you m-st-rbate for a year, each day straight? just wondering hehe, hope you can cover this topic someday

It would have some cool points because attractin gravity on mars is weaker, now lets just put it on earth so we would have the same conditions as mt everest

If we release chemiosythetic bacterias then carbon dioxide would be converted to o2 making suitable atmosphere to grow greenary and eventually water

If a situation similar to The Martian ever happens, what would be the chances that the unlucky soul wouldn't want to climb Olympus Mons?

What if I just land my space ship just at the top of mt. Olympus as the top seems to be an almost perfect for a space craft to land
reply

I would just save myself some trouble and just land spaceship on top of Olympus Mons, plant my flag on top, and call it a day.

what is the use of asking viewers who will never bother to climb the nearest hill and make fun of whatever lives on top of it
reply

Yeah but what if a sherpa attempted to climb it. Probably can do it with no oxygen support aswell - They are incredible.

As an aspiring writer, this gave new idea for sci fi novel. Keep it coming, we need more of your What If

How do we decide -sea level- on a planet that doesn't have a sea. Like where does the mountain begin?
