your assuming this event would be caused by climate change, lets say a pseudo mystical devise caused the ocean to rapidly and instantly evaporate into a gas state without altering the temperature of the earth, the oceans would than instantly turn to rain clouds and than fall back to earth. it would screw things up for a while but not enough to kill all life on earth
