AGNES GREY by Anne Bront - FULL AudioBook Greatest AudioBooks I admit, this was better than I thought it would be! Charlotte & Emily get so much praise I thought under-represented Anne would not be good. How wrong I was. Marvelous story.

Hmm, I had a harder time liking this story than Wuthering Heights or Jane Eyre. Jane immediately illicits my sympathy but possesses faults of character that I earnestly hopes she overcomes. Agnes. from the start is painted as potentially incompetent and the idea of a possibly impundent and unreliable narrator stuck with me throughout.
Loving especially the gothic and supernatural elements of the aforementioned books, I found this one to be plain and uninteresting, reading more like a Jane Austin novel, except that the romance (the one interesting plot point of this book for me) began somewhere in the middle as if an afterthought. I had trouble sympathizing with Agnes' over arching conflict--her family's peril. For the rest, I read it merely as a warning that wealth = insanity, cruelty, and root of all evil. Perhaps victorians truely were that cruel to animals, but I found it harder to believe and less shocking than the clouded half glimpses shown in Wuthering Heights.

Chapter 20:
Agnes returned back to Horton Lodge for 6 weeks as her mother tried to bargain a price for the house. She feels unhappy during her stay except she has one guilty pleasure, Mr. Weston. However, she hardly sees him, so it makes no difference. Unexpectedly, they crossed paths when she was returning home from visiting Nancy. No words were exchanged until he broke the silence and asked how her mom was doing. Ms. Grey feels foolish for the sudden interest in Weston simply for the fact that he does not care about her as much as she does him. He asked her if it would harm her in any way if he did see her one last time before her departure. She added that she would be grateful for his presence before she leaves.

Chapter 14:
Mrs. Murray insists that Agnes should do a better job at communicating with her daughter Rosalie. She blames her for the reason being that Rosalie always goes to the woods to read a book instead of doing her reading at home. When Agnes does go to the woods in search of Rosalie, she notices that she is accompanied by Mr. Hatfield. Hurriedly, she says her goodbyes to him and Ms. Grey sees that she is no longer needed and leaves. However, when Rosalie catches up with her later that evening, she gossips about rejecting Mr. Hatfield gloatingly. Ms. Grey shows her displeasure on the horrible decision, but Rosalie took it as jealousy.

Congratulations to the amazing performance of all readers. Although wicked and spoiled, and not to be taken as a role model, I must confess, Miss Murray, and her reader, whose performance I regard as particulary entertaining, was the most interesting character regarding the inherent nature of the female entity.

What a supremely talented writer. This is my second Anne Bronte book, after Tenant of Wildefell hall. Such a pity she died so young. What a loss to the literary world.

I do so applaud the attention that has made. But the American accents, charming in their place, do not blend well with this story, it is so very English.

I love these recordings of the Bronte sisters they are wholesome which many are not today thank you so much for them!

The voice actor for Mr. Bloomfield is soo good but why does Mrs. Bloomfield have a childish ring to her voice

Agnes is pretty interesting. I can't say I like her better than Jane or Katherine, but she was a good heroine
