I like this version way better. I think you should start with a Thor body base, then forget about the banana hair and just do normal hair as if pulled up by wind. I guess the concept feel kind of loose, at least to me, cuz you blend the styles too much, for example, the eyes, those are pretty big for any Marvel Universe. Think of Goku as a Captain America with Spider-Man's personality. In any case, you have great amazing talents!

i think you are close into getting it right but it is still not right. the smile needs to be cocky but serious at the same time. the body language is not of someone eager to fight it is of someone trying to show off and that character is not like that.

I think your colors were too dark. His hair and his gi could've been brighter. Super saiyan 3 NEVER smiles. As well his bang could've been longer. Other than that it is good western interpretation.

I don't feel like the face was the issue. more just the hulk vibe the old one had. This is for sure an improvement, but I feel like a captain America/Thor styled head would look just fine
