I've washed my hands twice, sanitized three times, and have maybe teared up about five times. From 4am early in the morning to 11pm at night, restaurant owner Sakura shows us what it's like to operate a restaurant during lockdown. She and her staff are now donating lunch boxes to hospital workers throughout NYC. If you would like to contribute, you can make a donation to BuzzFeed encourages everyone to do their part to help slow the spread of the coronavirus with frequent hand-washing, social distancing, and staying at home as much as possible. Being a restaurant owner is. a lot of hard work and stress! Unfortunately, right now the whole industry is crushed and everyone suffers!
The hardest-hit people together with the restaurant owners are their employees - the waiters!
Hope this will end soon and we will get back to normal life.

It's crazy that restaurants have to shut down but credit card companies, landlords and banks can still collect. If restaurants have to shut down then landlords should have to give a months free rent too. It's not fair that only certain businesses must sacrifice

I mean, this is at NY, where it is hit the hardest with Covid 19, all the best to her, I only been in Restricted Control Movement for a month now and it's already driving me crazy, but that is better than losing a job and having no income

I feel for her. My family has a small clothing and gift boutique and you suddenly lose all income with no way of gain new income since most places arent hiring. Thanks for bringing awareness to the topic!

As a workaholic, I know one when I see one. This woman's struggles is beyond the pandemic. I bet it is a constant challenge for her to be successful and not to let down her family, friends and culture.

Thank you for sharing your story. As a sushi chef in Los Angeles, I grieve with you. Stay strong and I will visit your restaurant when I stay in NYC. All the best to you and all your family members.

I applaud Single working Mama. I am also a single working Mama in hospitality, but sadly my work is temporarily closed. I hope we can overcome this pandemic by continuing to keep our distance.
