A man tries to convince his skeptical friend that he has invented a trap for catching extraterrestrials. The Trap by Dick Grunert Connect with the Filmmaker: The Trap This as very much all videos on Dust is meant for a certain group of people. I am not part of that group so here it is:
- The dialogue is plastic. As in not natural. Is that how two close friends talk No.
- It was too clear whos under the sheet the second you saw it. It was either him or a jumping screaming alien. Both scenarios are amazing.
- Tentacles. Jee, there is a 1972 German short story about aliens and its about - you guessed it - tentacles. Maybe we can come up with something else one single time in 2021, eh

The neighbor smiling while the other looked at the body, the other turning back to him, and his manner grew serious, then went to pay attention the body again, and the smiled again as his friend occupied himself with curiosity. Tension, suspense, yet I laughed, because I knew that guy was up to no good and he was anticipating something really good as well (dinner.

Space is never exist. Universe is Flat and we are in dome. Use rocket to the up with camera you can see you cant escape from the universe. Moon and Mars are not LAND these are plasma like Sun. Their heights and distance isn't big if you have lack of Maths you can compute that. You DECEIVED. WAKE UP.

Wonderful short, wonderfully done. The alien trap dude is fantastic -- looks totally crazy and sets up the surprise ending -- yes, it was a surprise for me. I thought, hey, maybe it's the Invasion of the Body Snatchers schtick. But it takes the idea to a 'nother plane. Really enjoyed it.

With only five minutes at your disposal you have to have immediate believable characters and a story that hooks you in from the off. They nailed this. Very good work, good acting, great directing and a neat well told little story.

Woah. this was great. I thought that the friend who had been called over was the alien and the twist would be it was him under the tarp, not the inventor. very good, a nice throwback in the music too the 50s Sci fi movies.

Greetings, Earthlings! Dick Grunert, writer/director of The Trap, here. If you're fans of aliens and theremins, I hope you enjoy our little film. And please feel free to leave a comment or question below. Thanks for watching!

This was a quite well done little film. Every technical aspect was solid and the story was very good. Both actors delivered solid performances as well. Stuart was very funny. Congratulations on an excellent contribution.

I am a huge fan of the 1960's Twilight Zone series and this short film has all the hallmarks of a TZ episode. Classic storytelling where extraordinary things happen to ordinary people.

Now, Rod Serling would have loved this story. It definitely would have made it on his show The Twilight Zone! Well, done!
I would have left out the potty mouth words, though.

That was a great show.
I have missed these kind of storys on Dust.
Great actors, nice dialoge, a little humour and an awesome twist.
I want more shows like this.

Nice. What I really appreciate is that your short is a complete story. None of those where the door is about to open up and the film is stopped leaving the audience hanging.

That was very enjoyable. Actors were brilliant and the plot was great. Had an X-Files feel to it as well. So from me, I give you a 9. 999 out of 10. (I never give a 10.

Great theremin sounds, fun storytelling, and thank you GunpowderSky for making a short that doesn't cave to needless violence or gore to get your ideas across!
reply

great. this is at least a movie I can understand after watching. there are so many DUST confusing movies. after watching, I didnt get the point at all.
reply

The editing choices were absolutely brilliant. Whittling this down to a five minute short and still packing in a complete storyline is remarkable.
reply

this had it all. in less than 6 minutes you told a complete story. that's more than some big screen efforts do in 2 hrs. i'll remember this film. thanks,

That was corny. yall could have done better with the twist. The acting wasn't bad but cheesy. More like a comedy that wasn't funny.
reply

Very well done. quality throughout. but I knew it was one of them under the sheet. I fairness though, I was expecting it to be the other one
reply

Hey, it had a theremin in it! What's not to love That was a whole lot of fun in 8 minutes. Thanks for the classical skiffy romp!

I like stu's eyes the red in them looks like a bit of exhaustion and madness added a nice dimension to the character

Had to go digging through my text messages to find the link to this from just over a year ago. Wanted to watch again.
