so he catches a little baby alien and brutalizes it - slings it harshly into a box - it gets out and grows fast and comes back to save him from suicide and then he kills it - but it ended well when he comes back to his town and sees that he no longer will have to pay for the boat and everybody he loves is now similar to a burnt weeny sandwich - I would call that instant karma - well done - I can only hope that the alien had relatives who will hunt this old bastard down and exact revenge cook him up like a marshmallow on a stick ( dipped in squid sushi sauce.

Just a question to everyone: Is it more common in movies, that they are sub or dub, if filmed in a different language to yours In Germany dubs are almost always chosen. That's why I can't read subs that fast.
At least my english is decent enough to watch everything in english- wich I prefer to german anyway.

A desperate man making a living by killing, angry towards those kind to him, his friendly workmates, sycophantic to his landlord, (assuming he also lived on the boat) and finally brutal to what could have been in the least a rare and unique species. Sad, depressing and with no redeeming message.

As a fisherman myself i can relate to his struggle to land the big one, seems he did just that & there's always a price to pay. I loved his nasty tenacity & though i love to fish i hope to never catch that thing. Great short, writing & acting & what fine camerawork as well. 10 out of 10!

This is my favourite Dust film to date. The acting is brilliant, the visuals are stunning and the story line is fantastic. I also like it was filmed in native tongue as it adds to the dynamic. I have watched it so many times and would love to see how Wong messes up the aliens.

A dark spin on the Old Man and the Sea. Very intriguing. I liked the opening shots and how the story intro was laid out. His imagining of posing on the pier with his little catch was so hilarious. And then, the fisherman encounters the alien creature. ..

I think that at the end, the burning buildings were a bit silly, and if they just cropped that out, it would have been better.
Nevertheless, this was really fun and interesting to watch, and I really enjoyed it.

Oh yeah, this is what I'm talking about! Somebody understands the essentials of great Cinema. This has all the elements! Quite an enjoyable short. Just about perfect from start to finish. Congratulations!

Andrew Ng is perfectly cast as the fisherman. Scenery and soundtrack fit perfectly. Very believable special effects. I have watched this film several times and never get tired of it.

i watched a series called Invasion it's at least 10 yo if not 15. identical theme. aliens from a water planet invaded earth and they were slowly replacing the human dna with their own.

I had to wade through about thirty consecutive pieces of garbage, but if you persist hard enough on DUST you'll eventually find a diamond in the rough. This one was excellent!
