A robot goes on a quest to find his creator in the desert lands outside his city. Not built for the harsh environment outside his city, a robot takes his chances and braves the barren landscape in a desperate attempt to find his creator. With his knee joints slowly breaking down, it’s only a matter of time before his fate will be decided. We Were Not Made for this World by Colin West // Part II of The Robot Scriptures Director's Statement: We Were Not Made For This World is part II of The Robot Scriptures -- a three-part short film series about the origin, evolution, and exodus of artificial intelligence. The idea for the series first came about when I was working for a very large tech company that was constantly considering the impending robot singularity. I began thinking about life from their point of view. The Robots that is. I thought, what happens when human beings die out and all that are left are the robot species At that point, what would the robots know about their origin Their creators Their God My hunch is, they would be asking many of the same questions we do about our own human origin -- some leaning toward spiritual answers, some scientific, some ridiculous. This film explores these questions

This is an analogy for man on earth, in the endless, often meaningless rat race of life as we know it. Some choose to break out of it and seek a high power for meaning, while others laugh at those dreamers and choose the comfort of the rat race preferring security of known conclusions to the risk of seeking a greater purpose. The dreamers may be just that, dreamers, and may never find the greater meaning they seek. Perhaps we are built to never escape this world. But the real dreamers never stop seeking what else is out there. Who made it all. Why Can they make us even better Can we make ourselves last longer Be stronger Be better And the dream seekers never stop dreaming and seeking.
Amazing short. Got me thinking for sure.

This speaks to me these recent days. Am into my 50th decade now. But I'm afraid that there's very little of any practical use left in my own neck cavity for repairs now. There's probably no real answers likely to come by this stage now either I shouldn't think. Though further deterioration of my weakening joints towards an unavoidable endpoint is a flat certainty. Still - some things I have seen, and can still see, ARE subjectively very beautiful. (F

Just goes to show that nothing is impossible. The bot, not only had knowledge inserted, but it had also, in depth, knowledge of emotions. U could say human emotions! I just noticed from the beginning. So i pretty much put myself in his shoes. (No punt intended. I totally enjoyed this.

This was my least favorite film. Slow moving, like the robot. I was waiting for something, anything to happen. But it didn't. I found my mind wandering, hoping some alien spacecraft would appear over the dunes and just blow the ugly bastard to kingdom come.

this short film made me think about my life and the journey im on probably more than it should have. all the questions i have are like the grains of sand preventing me from progress i can push some away but some stay and time moves on

Man, this story telling puts me to mind of Jack London's To Build a Fire. You should bring it to a conclusion. Was he or was he not a misclcuating fool who brought himself to his own demise

On a desert world, why would they create a machine that's not, at the very least, sand resistant Seems like the first design spec you would have for any machine in such an environment.

It made me reflect on our vulnerabiity as humans and our purpose in life, even if we don't have one or not know exaclty what it is, looking at the horizon is beautiful. Great piece of art!

This was pretty much a re-cap (no pun intended lol) on my math test - How many grains of sand remain in his joints Gah!

I can't help but be reminded of CP3O wandering over Tatooine even though the theme of this short is thoughtful and somber.

This is my favorite out of dust. I know there are a lot of much more high effort productions. But this is a masterpiece.

This robot is a metaphor of the humanity's exploration of the cosmos.
We are not designed to live outside the Earth.

doesn't exactly go anywhere. is there a sequel, or is this yet another miss where the point is everything is futile

Reminds me of that call center job I had in Florida, where I worked for Sprint. Tough times those days were.

The Robots from Part 2 and 3 are actually searching for Part 1. Their search continues to this day.

Believe it or not, I was impressed with the sound of the narrator's voice. Sounded very professional. Kudos

Rumor has it he still hasn’t quite reached his destination, but he is still powering through!

Serious design flaw. A lightly pressured triple seal design would solve the issue.

Have to admit, also thought it was narrated by G. Clooney, but beautifully done. Thank you.

I narrated this film some years ago, so excited to see people enjoy it. thankyou

Ironically, in his search for humans he has become a human, in a way.

17 granules go in, 9 are forced out. ya man, I've had days like that.

Could have been better with far less narration -- SHOW do not TELL --

Great flick! I figured. He was actually looking for a WD40 can!

This short film is really well made and really amazing to watch: )

Reminds me of of Lester Del Rey's and Clifford Simak's robot stories.
