Watch the DUST channel for our complete sci-fi library, feature films, and more This short triggered a bad memory for me. when I was 10 years old I was in a phone booth talking with my father to come pick me up from the movie show that had just finished, while I was still on the phone a police officer reached in and grabbed me by my jacket and threw me out on the street. I remember it was very cold and there was snow and slush on the road. and I remember the lights from the on coming traffic. I dont know how I did it but I manged to stay on my feet and I was in shock. traumatized and shaken. the cop yelled at me what the hell were you doing in there. I was was shaking like a leaf out of fear and I remember stuttering as I told him I was talking to my father. and he yelled back at me well get the hell back in there! .and then grabbed me by the shoulder and threw me violently back in the phone booth where the receiver had been left dangling by its cord after it was pulled out of my hand by him yanking me out of there. when I finally picked it up and spoke to my father he asked me what happened. I was still shaking and stammered out that a policeman had thrown me out in the street. his response was whyd he do that. and all I could say was I dont know. and he never mentioned it again. Even after he picked me up he never mentioned it. some father he was! .I never ever forgot that incident and from time to time over the years, I would think back on it and wondered why the hell did that cop do such a thing to a young innocent kid who was just minding his business and talking with his father on the phone. I was just a kid!
What would possess a cop to be violent to an innocent young 10 year old Kid! .well many years later it occurred to me that I had been wearing a black vinyl jacket that was more of a windbreaker design and having just moved there from the east coast where things were simpler, I was not at all familiar with gangs that roamed the area where we had located to. and Im guessing that the cop saw the black jacket I was wearing and decided to terrorize me for it. for christ sake I was 10 years old and knew nothing about motorcycle gangs or anything else for that matter. that all happened to me more than 50 years ago and I still havent forgotten. and I never will! .now whenever a cop gets his comeuppance a little smile comes over my face. and Ive learned over the years that just because a cop wears a badge and a uniform. it doesnt automatically make him good. sometimes quite the contrary! .I know that there are good cops and bad cops. but to this day I get a feeling of dread whenever theres a cop near by. and thats a carry over from being traumatized at 10 years old!

I congratulate the producer/writer and staff who worked on this project. How prophetic, this would've taken months if not years to produce and was uploaded 2 days after George Floyds death at the hands of police in Minneapolis, even to the final scene which depicts the apathy that has been so prevalent in today's society.
Hopefully Mr. Floyds death galvanises society to get their heads out of the sand and act.
Systemic racism is not the only structural problem we need to eradicate this century; distribution of wealth, means of production, health care, un-employment, housing, the list goes on and hopefully this film will help to motivate those who reach for the Chardonnay.
Can we as a species achieve such lofty goals within our own lifetimes One only hopes.

Bravo, DUST. Excellent. Hopefully the right people watch this, and realise that there is injustice that happens ALL THE TIME, for simple things like this. Those actors playing the cops were very convincing in their faces and body language. The attitude, the stance, the preconceptions, you could practically smell it. All the actors were very good. I've dealt with racism, and intolerance, from cops and other people, and it really triggered me. Well done.
People need to see it from their own PoV to really know - not everyone can put themselves in other people's shoes and see it from their side. This is the closest I've seen to that.

When I got to the very end, I knew what was going to happen and I shuddered. I also got very mad, because I know that her indifference is far too common of a reaction and that needs to change. As much as I hope for a future where this sort of thing no longer happens, there is no way we can even begin to decrease the number of times let alone eliminate it altogether. Not until there are more people like me, most especially white people, who not only say, but show that I see you, and you matter, and until there are less people like her.

I get stop searched a lot, almost every time the police come by. Im half white half asian and it’s most definitely the fact i dont look very studious now I’m not gonna say racism isn’t that common as that’s a blatant lie. However my best friend is black and he dresses very smartly, has never been stopped or even questioned by the police his entire life.

Well. Impressive, good idea, realistic. But it NOT reflect average normality, nor in the USA, the less in Britain. Nor on the policemen nor on the woman. Still - it could happen. Exceptionally but it could happen, exactly like that. PS: I don't mean harassent, I mean murder and the witness ignoring it.

Violence and abuse of power such as this was a lot worse and frequent in the past, now most people are carrying a mobile and CCTV cameras came on the scene, it might not look like it but things are looking better in this respect; still with plenty of room for improvement RIP George Floyd

This isn't so much a criticism of police profiling and brutality as it is a sharp commentary on media sensationalism of real violence and the vicarious involvement viewers feel when watching it. People are desperate to feel something, anything, but at what expense.
reply

Excellent. The main enabler of persecution, subjugation and exploitation throughout history is the indifference of the masses. It begins there and progresses like the boiling frog through feigned ignorance, tacit acceptance and finally justification.
reply

The cops sounded like Fog Breathers to me. Everyone knows Fog Breathers aren't racist. Just White Americans. Everyone knows that only American cops suit up everyday and every night for the sole purpose of shooting unarmed black folks.
reply

I don't know what is more disturbing, the police being the same the world over, or the woman happy to forget the incident and do nothing. We might not have that level of technology, but we are experiencing it here and now!
reply

HARD TRUTH (of some places, emotional and perfect on the psychological level. The way most people escape by avoiding pain or injustice is depicted marvellously with that tiny little remorse showed in the last picture of her eyes
reply

If that were to happen for real, I'd pretty much fire those officers with a big fat conduct unbecoming an officer of the law while on duty.
That's not the kind of officers anyone would want.
Nothing but trouble of those.

reply

Propaganda is evil, cops are good but deserve more training time. Some evil muscular guys are hard to stop in their evil. Muscular guys with narcotics even harder to stop. How would you stop a resisting evil person
reply

Love the concept! People don't want to know what's really going on in the world. Even when they know, they don't want to do anything about it. They'd just rather keep consuming. Very good video!
reply

Nice short, very relevant social critique. Considering the timing though I kinda wish it didn't involve cops as this is just more fuel for a fire that is already burning too hot. Otherwise great.
reply

I understand the point of this video. However there is an underlying message too. I am against a message where police are racist and target people. This is a dirty Socialist Antifa message.
reply

Horrible what happened to this young men.
Now make a video of people going out to protest about this and half of them start burning Innocent's people business.

reply

This is disgusting, i can't believe they are promoting an agenda. Your supposed to think white people bad black people good. DUST used to be Sci-Fi what happened
reply

Omg wow. it’s not like you guys recorded this after George Floyd’s death considering the time it makes to make a film like this but wow. this was scarily good
reply

And this is what usually happens. people feel disgusted, shocked, horrified for a couple days, weeks maybe, and then they move on. hopefully not this time.
reply

Disgusting. An exaggeration to perpetuate a very damaging victim hood narrative and encourage division. Don't fall for it. Propaganda.
reply

the moral of the story here is, don't smoke, because you gonna get beat down. oh, and don't wear white shoes. that's a big no no
reply

i wonder. if this was made because of george floyd. because it's sure as hell similar. it's a good video, well made but. haunting
reply

Hectic! With George Floyd just having died this REALLY hits home on another level. May the world change for the better. and fast!
reply

Antifa's wet dream: stereotypical anti-police propaganda, a mob in the comments screaming ACAB and condoning murder. Well done, DUST.
reply

I was beginning to feel a little panicky there for a moment. and then relaxed. Incredible acting and awesome story! Thanks!
reply

it's still the same window. It's still the same safe place. Let's go somewhere else. Some nice and cosy place for a change.
reply

George was an actor acting out a crisis cops too - dont believe the media- research before you comment coz I have proof
reply

Hmmm. either you made this film in a 24 hour time frame or. it’s almost like they knew this shit was going to happen
reply

this is a bunch of BS this is crap and will make people more upset to the person who made this garbage trash
reply

This is just sick inverse gaslighting masquerading as a twisted fantasy-fatale and in really poor taste.
reply

Most people don’t know. but police act like that even in black majority countries. it’s crazy
reply

That's not resisting, that's called dying of asphyxiation. Pardon my language, but fing racist cops.
reply

I doubt anyone with this device will be sitting home in full make-up and and office suit: )
