Not sure what it is with set designers these days for space ships because they just get it wrong all of the time. Anymore they create space ships that are rusted dirty and dark as well as very boring. It seems like we go into the future and people forget how to clean or something or add light and color. LED lighting is cheap now as well as bright and yet the ships are always dark. I got a kick out of the piece of flexible duct work they used and gauges out of the 50's or 60's. That electrical work looks deplorable for this century. Why would it get so bad in the future I would love to design sets!

I am not big on dissing small budget folks, but there are millions of geeks that would have worked with any sci fi film just for mention and a slice or two of pizza. They would have pointed out in the script things like the 2 light years in another galaxy screw up. If you found one semi motivated they might also have helped with better set designs to better CGI and again, for next to no cost. In fact, if the first thing they asked for was pay rate, keep looking. That is not the geek you are seeking.

Universal Story that could have last ages ago some way. Transform the virtual messages in paper letters ans the starship in a sailing boat or even a travel horseback riding trough a lonely country land (plus some other minor adaptation. Here SF is just a pretext, but serve the message perfectly.
The performance is in the exact appropriate acting. I find that the teen is particularly convincing in his role.

This was more of a family drama than sci-fi per se, the sci-fi aspect was more of a background motif. However, that certainly doesn't detract from the quality of the acting in this production, or the sets that were created, even with a very limited budget. Nicely done, though it was a bit unclear what actually happened to Zane 17 yrs ago, or what the issue was at that time that caused so much current anguish.

I get it. low budget, actors in training/students of the art, that type of thing. but this is not even really entertaining in its current state. A contrived story with a mild delivery from the cast. I was thinking 4/10 but then I thought what if I had to sit through a whole 90 minute film. Truth be told, I wouldn't be able to.

I feel that if I were to critique this video that would be saying I know how to do better. Honestly I think it was a fantastic job. The greenscreen work was very good and the acting felt almost 100% real. I think we have some up and coming actors and directors here.

Beautifully written, excellent acting, cinematography that was engaging, beautiful planet thanks to the huge special effects team you had. and the music! Kudos to Ohm Vaewuthinand! IMO, the music really enhanced the tone and emotions of the story.

A sincere effort, no doubt. But the things I love most here are the engine room, the command to strap into glorified lawn chairs lacking any type of restraining apparatus and so on. Absolutely glorious low-fi FX so bad they're wonderful.

So delighted that the secret to interstellar travel is in dusty old network patch panel wiring. Ima grabbing my spanner and setting off to deep space! Yo!
As for the story, I think it succeeded thx to hard work of the crew and actors: )

Deserved praises all around indeed. Solid act. I was invested in it.
Just one thing I would point out which, I believe Filmmakers already knew, but in case, the very end shot of it was the weakest part, the movement of ship.

I'm glad to see a little diversity in Sci Fi these days. In the past it's been 99% white actors. Now we have some different characters. It's progress, not enough but at least we are moving in the right direction.

first of all, the time to grow and mature was when he decided to have a kid. I've never seen any adult male behave like a spoiled ungrateful ten year old. killed the entire short for me.

Ok, it gets an pass from me. Even tho the story and characters didn’t get me hooked, who am I to judge really. I’m sure with a bigger budget, it would yield better.

This was great. I watch a lot of stuff on Dust and this is head and shoulders above most of it. Actual human beings with recognizable emotions in space. Please keep at it!

Incredibly moving, and facing some of the same/different issues, it really touched me. Kudoes for such a great production, out of so much pain to bring so much hope!

There is the very interested but best short story in film Stargazer in DUST as my favorite sci- fiction, fantastic and futuristic short films and movies.

Beautiful set pieces, and great camera work. Lovely to see a sci-fi that isn't all ray guns and CGI spaceships. All great stories are human stories.

Thanks for sharing. One of the unique effects sounds of the door closing when they were on the planet, was from Command & Conquer.

What a great story and the acting was spot on. It could have been set anywhere and worked. big thumbs up Arvind and co.

So much even in that first minute. Amazing story telling meeting perfect understated visual queues. Thank you!

A lot of humanity in this one. Needed more time to develop the protagonist's conversion, but worth watching for sure

That spaceship has more headroom than my college dorm room!
Just read the description. This is a family

The sound mixer person needed some help. Very watchable but I had to focus way too much on the dialogue.
reply

She said Strap in! but nobody strapped in. They don't even have straps on those chairs.
reply

Really well done! And a great family story. Thank you to the whole team! Beautiful.
reply

Excellent work and the story is well executed. Much appreciated. Liked and subbed.
reply

I enjoyed that short. Great job! What a great story everyone can relate to.
reply

Ahhhh. the future. Where BACKUPS apparently don't exist. Lol. Loved it. 10 out of 10.
reply

Pretty basic plot, and as ever filmed in the dark, people talking in loud whispers.
reply

Another poorly made movie by Dust with more bad acting. No plot or story.
reply

My Sci-fi book I’m writing is called stargazer! this is so cool.
reply

Nice. Family and all its flaws will have to follow us out there. Well done.

Thank you.
This reminds me of when I scattered my mum and dad’s ashes
