Which is a shame because chess can be a useful engine for metaphor in cinema! But the only message delivered by the use of chess here is that the filmmakers dont know chess very well.
Also, its ambiguous from the arrangement of pieces, but the board theyre playing on may be rotated 90 degrees from conventional play.

The acting was atrocious, each character's movements, reactions, and facial expressions seemed forced and contrived as if you took a bunch of random people off the street and gave them a one hour acting class(other than the kid, who was the most believable. However, everything else was phenomenal, I loved the plot and the the sound, and locations. Also, the visual effects where impecable with more experienced actors this could be the next Star Wars or Dune.

A great short. Good fx, great score and an engaging story. My only criticism is you didn't give enough information to give us a sense of where it was going. Namely, what was the data cache That would have given more of a tantalizing insight into the rebel's cause. But we'll done. I was quite absorbed.

This is pretty good. Visually appealing, costume & landscape. From the audio standpoint, I found it difficult to understand the dialog, but the music & sound effects were too loud. Also, it seemed unresolved at the en, which I understand is common with short films.
Otherwise, good work.

Since the shard was near his ship and nowhere near the injured Veritas, that would suggest the Sgt was the one that hid it for the opposition to find after he landed. Makes you wonder what is really going on.

The second move in the chess game is illegal. The father moves the king on the diagonal next to the pawn. That's moving the king into check which is illegal. So lame.

It always amazes me that with all the time, effort, and money that go into these shorts that the one thing they almost all fail at is providing Closed Caption.

Nice- however atmospheric does NOT equal a story line. I didn't have any problems with hearing the dialogue, and otherwise liked this short film.

Very well done. Yes, the dialogue was hard to hear at times but that happens with commercial TV and movies too. And captions would be helpful.
