A young woman tries to seek shelter as those around her float inexplicably into the night sky. Explosions by Christopher Frey Perhaps this little gem of art is following methods initiated by the surrealist from the early twentieth century They held the notion of spontaneous creation, which could be set in motion by a variety of techniques and methodologies that undermined the self-assured confidence of the rational and respectable. Their critique of reasoning was one of the most liberating of the Twentieth Century. For example, some of them used the psychological philosophies of Sigmund Feud as a way to release creativity by exploring the world of dreams and fantasies, of which they included the sub-conscience outcomes in their art. The images and movement in this short could represent many explanations depending on the strength of your imagination. Personally I really enjoyed the choreography and cinematography. It was like watching dance improvisation to some extent but improvised with intent. Perhaps the intent was an intro to a story At this point however, to me, it doesnt really matter. What matters is that the movement, space and lighting took me on a journey. A marvelous, fantastic journey. Perhaps if there was more, I might better understand the journey or perhaps in my sub-conscience I already know. Tilen Bihar has his interpretation. Whats yours

I find it difficult to express why I liked this so much.
It's like a living nightmare where you have no idea what is happening and you are completely powerless.
The music instills an eerie and unsettling mood and the dark threatening weather just amplifies that feeling.
You can see the dread and then resignation on her face as she realizes her impending doom.
I've seldom seen anything that brings forth such strong emotions and not even a single word was spoken.
Don't try and find any deep meaning to it because I don't think that was the intent.
I know many will disagree but I think it is a brilliant piece of work.

Not many seem to be commenting on the amazing production value here. So putting what the film was trying to say aside a moment, it said it very very well.
Stephen King said the best way to write a story is to think of a crazy situation, then write what happens next. By that technique, that's what we got. I don't think it needs to mean anything.
I think it shows film writing talent to create a story so bizarre yet still have me empathise with the main character. Don't listen to the haters. This is art and is impossible to create without incredible skill.

Metaphor for death/dying. When we get to the end we become aware of the other people who have also just died, we see them float up and away from the earthly plain. Eventually we too cant remain any longer, our physical beings are 'Empty' and we begin to rise. Once we have reached 'Heaven' we have a few seconds of awareness before returning to the energy form. We are gone but the physical world remains.

- Look I found this cool effect
- Looks great. You should use it for a movie
- What about
- Dude, doesn't matter. People don't care about stories. Just make the people float and then to the poof effect.
- Sure
- Trust me. I know a thing or two about movies. people will love it. Might even get a prize.

We as a species. we are losing our hopes. dreams. we no longer feel the earth beneath our feet, the earth is dying much as our humanity. This is so lovely in its despair. We are energy, and we will combust upon the end of our time in infinity. Well thats my interpretation of this. But thats art. The way it should be.
reply

This is literally the best any of us can hope for.
All attempts to alter this inevitably will fail.
But don’t despair, you will live to the fullest. While others toil their days away in the hopes of giving their acceptance speeches to their fashionable fans.
In the end, love is life.

Hmmm I got the Rapture as a theme. It’s just a different way of looking at it. Sure, if it was happening like that, everyone would be frightened too. The dust to dust theme of a life ending. The people becoming beautiful white explosions. Seeing it occur and you’re next Yup. Frightening.

Do'nt fear the dead. The end is not the end of all. Its a new beginning. Your body will stay in the past. Your soul will be free and return to the paradise earth. To explore again the world with a new body, new eyes, new thoughts in a new born child as daughter or son of your new parents.

Well this was neat! Also i've had nightmares of floating upwards and never being able to come back down lol. In one such episode, im grabbing onto a tree and even if you had me a gun point, you wouldnt have convinced me to let go of it lol. But this. this was cool as all get out!

Is this to illustrate the 'Rapture' when the chosen are called up and transformed Is this some alien takeover Is there some sort of geomagnetical disturbance affecting the gravity of organic bodies Interesting but quite thought-provoking so I'll give you a 7. 5 out of 10.

It seemed like it might be some kinda Christian whooha in the beginning, but I am left more confused than anything by the ending. Brilliant special effects artists made this boring story possible though. Kudos i guess!

I thought that was beautiful, not every story has to spoon feed you it's reason as to why things happen. The score was perfect and I liked the calm look on her face accepting the fate looming before her.

I feel like I just watched one of those pretentious TV advertisements where the writers' heads were so far up their own arses that they forgot to mention what product they're supposed to be advertising.

I have no idea what this
dream like short
was really about.
Possibly failed relationships
or the disconnect we have
with each other

I give it an 'A' for creativity.

Why do all the people have a need for an explanation A bad movie is a bad movie. You need a moral of the story that it doesn't want to give
Are you trying to try to find the meaning

reply

this had a lot of potential, the visual fx were descent-but its like i walked in at the end of a movie somewhere. totally dont even know whats going on. damn shame.
reply

It had my interest when I saw people falling up. then it didn't explain why, so now I'm upset. Either I missed a reference or this is just bad storytelling.
reply

beautiful surreal pictures
that alone is worthy more than enough to be called art
the meaning, in things like these, are supposed to be individual

seeing this after the latest episode of Rick and Morty makes it seem more funny that it should
she's even holding on to his shoe. hahahaha

If it wasn't for the slow motion, this film would have lasted only a minute. I think I'll watch it in fast foward and see how that goes.

Life can be dark and dreary, yet we cling to it.
Even when we know it's time, we fear the end.
A burst of light, then nothing.

reply

This isn't sci-fi. You've got to try harder to actually have some kind of plot where stuff happens to claim that label.

Humanity destroyed mother earth.
Destruction caused loss of resources, adverse climatic conditions, series of deaths.

reply

You need the red pill to understand this. Otherwise, you will not be able to find out how deep the rabbit hole goes.
reply

I know! This is what it feels like when someone gets the last slice of pizza before you and you feel your world floating away!
reply

One of the most artistic, stunning short films I've seen. This film is about anxiety and depression. Totally surreal.

Awesome, wonderful. So much information conveyed in this masterful short video medium could fill a book. Superb.
reply

No idea what it was about but beautifully shot, visually stunning and the sound track fitted perfectly!

Netflix shud just partner with Dust and create a full series since black mirror is sort of struggling.
reply

Amazing concept. More art than storytelling. You don't need to understand//it's the feeling.

Was this an attempt at explaining those mysterious hard to focus on floaters that we see
