not a film makers film, that's for sure. the editing, direction, script, costume, set design, all awful. the first obvious problem was the perfectly square webcam alignment with 4k resolution, and fake static. no believability from the beginning. and the black leotard and pseudo human traits are just not forgivable. nothing cohesive here. it all depends on cheap emotional manipulations. nice try if you are 1st semester film students.

I truly loved this video short. You felt Sheilas' loneliness and in the end her pain and sorrow. Fortunately she had Melo there to literally provide a shoulder for her to cry on. What's even more special about Melo is that he was a gift from her daughter to be there for Sheila whenever she needed him. And with her daughters' death he truly was.

Hold up. If the daughter's camp was hit by a missile while she was recording, how did the message get sent to the mother Did a clean-up crew find it later, then decide that the best way to let the mother know her daughter was dead was to send it to her without officially informing her first

Even in this era of technological advancement we still use some of the most basic forms of storing and playing video on a rewriteable format that is compact and the world of the Mini DV/HDV tape shows for how much we advance there will be relics in use until the very end.

I loved the way this was done, the mothers acting was impeccable, and the characters were authentic and perfectly moving. The addition of the antique-yet-reengineered tapes and record player was a brilliant storytelling move. Bravo. Wish I could give 100 thumbs up.

I couldn't get connected to the story as i was constantly irritated by the fact that you needed to print the cassettes on a 3d printer and plug it in to your VR headset, instead of downloading it directly on the headset. Why is the 2040's tech worse than today's

I feel pity for the average American soldier. Lied by their politicians, so often fighting senseless wars. So many lives offered in the altar of ignorance disgised as freedom. On the otheer hand, nice to see a robot as good, for a change.

Very moving. Any parent of a service member has run this scenario through their mind many times. Mine came home safely, but many don't. My heart breaks for those who lose their loved ones, and live with that pain the rest of their lives.

I love that Melo was able to become the perfect companion to the lady by simply sharing in the memories of her family life. To people like the lady & myself who have no family or even friends a Melo would be invaluable.

The woman losing her daughter made me cry of course but I felt a sense of comfort knowing that Melo would be there to comfort her as she grieves her daughter. It won't be the same but just an ounce of care goes a long way.

I was so busy working to make a living for our family over the years I regret not taking more video and photos. Robot got to see the Love her and her family had for one another. Keep up the great work DUST STAFF

I didn’t think it had a lot of creativity as much as decorating a house for Christmas. the only thing that separates this from a regular story is the presence of a robot that doesn’t look to authentic

So weird, I cannot tell how old the mother (sheila) is. She could be 30, she could be 65, or anything in between. It’s very strange. Imagine her hair is blonde or brown and you’ll see what I mean.

I was totally bracing myself throughout the whole thing. I was expecting the robot to snap her neck at the end or something. But that's not what happens at the end. Lovely film.

Excellent story, wonderful depiction of the daughter and mother's connection, and ever so grand was the communication of the robot's empathy and genuine comforter and friend.
