A woman is trapped in a temporal loop. Will she be able to break it reStart by Olga Osorio Now available on demand in US & Canada BUY IT HERE: Google Play: iTunes This terrific short film reminds me of the Myth of Sisyphus by Albert Camus. Sisyphus was a king, condemned by the gods to forever push a boulder up a hill, only to see it roll back down, and start once again at the bottom to push it up. It was Camus stark commentary on the repetitive, ultimately dour nature of life - that hoping for a better tomorrow is totally absurd, because we all die in the end. So for this lady in reStart, she had to eventually realize that it was futile to try to escape; that trying to break out of the time loop only meant populating that beautiful but surreal landscape with her multiple selves, all of whom were bound to be kidnapped and imprisoned time in time again. Its like the more she tried to undo a big knot, the more she served to make it tighter. That, I believe, is the absurdity that Camus expounds on in the Myth of Sisyphus. This film a genius effort by writer and director Olga Osorio!

I don't see why the woman just didn't confront herself after realising what was going on (not attempting to kill her original self, and not take over 50 attempts from afar. Did anyone else facepalm after she kept saying Hey Hey Hey, and then hid after she got herself to look back the first time
Could have just met her to start and said: I'll explain on the way. Let's not go to that building over there, and easy peasy they never pick her up at that spot. Of course would that change the time jumping Don't know, but would have been better to see, if all of her 'passive attempts' hadn't been working, rather than her just going: I'll kill her. The delaying tactics helped a little.
I suppose that's the nature of time travel stories Either you believe characters can't control things, or you believe they can.

Traveling back in time removes you from the present universe, which is equivalent to a loss of mass and energy from the present universe, which violates the Laws of Thermodynamics: Matter and energy of the universe is constant. Removing yourself from the present universe also decreases the entropy of the present universe, which is a violation of the Laws of Thermodynamics. Adding yourself to the past universe is a violation of the Laws of Thermodynamics. So, you cannot travel back in time.

Meh, that didn't make much sense.
Since neither new memories of their meeting appeared automagically in her mind after she met her younger self,
nor a huge bump appeared on her head after she hit her, both suggest that she is in a different timeline.
So what's with the whole change the past (or not) theme There's no way to change her past anyway, because
she is NOT in her past obviously.
Dunno, I don't get what's the message/point supposed to be here.

Dumbest one I've seen yet. The stigma they portray is worse than crude. Essentially off the script this individual has no self right, though they comprehended themself well enough for their congnitive emotions to portray a multitude of propper variables, yet is still positioned as lesser. Obviously essentially, a crimminal stance of superiority of a majority rule. A tramatized hypocritical standard that equates inequality of probable personafied realities.

Change clothes with past self and have them kidnap the wrong you and/or Hey I'm clearly you from the future and someone wants to kidnap you, then go right to them to buy her time. Also, act human and talk to her-- hundred ways to skin this cat. You guys can both escape if done right.

So there are many time lines going on. Near the end after the one got shot it shows one red coat walking down the road and another being kidnapped again. I maybe missing something else too. Good vid.
reply

I really thought the solution was going to be to pretend to be her past self, and be kidnapped again. Perhaps sacrificing herself to the loop, but freeing the past her from ever entering it.

If the last version of girl survived and was brought back where did the other version of girl went, when her attempts were in vain. There should had been 50versions of that girl. Isn't it
reply

im a spanish native speaker. music from the background at the beginning of the video (the intro) is too loud and thee woman speaks too fast, please consider it. i ended up reading the subbtitles
reply

OMG what a terrible existence that would be. Very well written, and acted well it made you think and put your self in her place. Which is what any good story should do in some way.
reply

she could have tried to put herself in place to get kidnapped. remove the version of herself that was clueless. and go willingly. maybe that would have stopped it. who knows.

An interesting story line, and a great example of how science fiction need not always be special-effects-laden spectaculars to be engaging and thought provoking.
reply

Captivating, I wonder how many restarts it would take the average person to figure out killing their past self was the only way to end the nightmare.
reply

The correct solution is, of course, to take the place of your younger self, so she can continue her life and consistency is still maintained. Somewhat. %)

How tragic is the weakness of will. Reality branches, and loops break, when a choice is made. All it takes is the will to make that choice.
reply

Disappointing for the captions to repeat and overlap. It ruins the enjoyment of the film. That alone makes me give this a thumbs down.
reply

Time is like a rubber band sometimes all it does is stretch never break this was a very very interesting concept on time travel
reply

This one is not for me. It does not tell a story, only plays around with an esoteric concept in a bleak and self indulgent way.
reply

unfortunately I couldn't like (or dislike for that matter) because the color you chose for the subs some of us cant see: /
reply

Very good film! The captions overlap, though, and it’s seriously annoying.
This was a little bit of a mind fu#!

The rifle is a plot-hole in this video. She should take over the vehicle, grab the rifle, and free herself. Easy
reply

She now would know that killing herself won't work, and she will have to resort to other strategies.
reply

I want her to get out of the loop. She could have replaced her past self with her current self. :D
reply

If you just do some sit ups, wear black and tie your hair back, you too can look just like Emily Blunt!
reply

She looks like my sister's Spanish equivalent. Strange. Ella mira como mi hermana. Interasante.
reply

Code for the subtitles kept looking up blocking current subtitles, so I was behind on what she said.
reply

The silliest time travel movie ever. What's the point of showing how she did nothing loop after loop
reply

Instead of following herself around. try following the car to the lab and set herself free.
reply

Not sure why she didn't talk to her self, and they could together set a trap for kidnappers.
reply

Or. she could have killed the kidnappers. that would have solved the entire issue.
reply

In my meager opinion the car was the crux. Steal the car and they have no way to kidnap you.
reply

The subtitles are broken, and unnecessary during the in-video ones. Meanwhile, goodstuff.
reply

The conscientious twin made the wrong choice. should have just left it alone.
reply

Wow. I speak spanish yet I could not keep up. this stoy BLUE me away. GRACIAS!
