I am ecstatically delighted and disproportionately flabbergasted with enormous gratification and appreciation for the dispensation of such a tendering and mesmerizing information in which the prestidigitation of the concurrent and subsequent matter is thoroughly demonstrated through the innuances alluding to literal and metaphorical context. It is highly imperative to note that, such is the significance of the aforementioned distortion in any shape or form will result in catastrophic ramifications to which will be the outcome of epic proportions. I thank you for your unequivocal. Idealically, based on my intellectual capacity and my vast knowledge, tactically and tentatively, right from the beginning of times especially in the light of Ecclesiastes evolution, I have come to a concrete, definite and profound conclusion that I actually have nothing to say. Thank you!

4 years later and this movie still has me questioning what it's supposed to me, my interpretation is
1. Is a moment of short freedom better then living forever and in misery
Or
2. Should we be patient and wait for the correct moment and instead of trying to rush it
There is many more interpretations i have read, and i think that's the beauty, it's art it can be interpreted as us the viewer want and maybe the artist had no clear idea, maybe they did but i find it interesting to think and talk about

I interpreted it as the selfishness in the world. Here we see the selfishness of one particular robot, to deny the others from reaching their potential. He hogged up this great light resource, turned it on, all the others were able to charge up and reach their physical potential to fly. only to have this energy source robbed from them and then they collapsed, all because of ONE particular robot, who could have used his resourcefulness for the good, rather than selfishness.

Steam punk, OK. No words, OK. Ending sad. It could mean so many things. But not good things. One of them had a crazy idea that didn't work and took everybody with him. They didn't seem to have a choice. The wings came out even if for just a moment. Were they awaken just for a moment Was that better than continuing the life they had Was it worth it

The beauty of this kind of story is that it can be interpreted many different ways. It just affirms that the film is a work of art and an expression of a vision the writer had. Perhaps the idea came from a dream or some other source. The point is it doesn't matter, take it for what it is whether you like it or not.
reply

Oh I get it, the point of this is to show that often we look at our purpose or what we're supposed to do our entire live but never realise it because it's become our routine. So all we have to do i- Plot twist happens
FINE, I won't try to interpret nice things into your art. Pfft xD

We are all destined for greatness, but you cannot wait for it to come to you. The down ending feels more like trope of the genre than part of a larger theme. You could argue that it was one of hubris, but the counter would be short but happy and meaningful vs long but shallow.

Not bad although I do find myself wondering why it is so rare to find anything uplifting here. Plenty of death, destruction, deceit, despair, treachery, etc. but very few visions of anything more positive. I am entertained, yes, but frequently saddened as well.

This one is cool! Those robots are so expressive & the animation is brilliant. I love the music & sound effects! It creates a perfect mood that fits. The ending is pretty sad. Once that big light went out, I was waiting for the robots to fall.
reply

Beautifully made animation.
When are DUST going to stop cutting these films dead before the credits have rolled
If you are going to steal short films for your own ad-revenue, at least give the creators some credit.

Many different interpretations for this film. One of them could also be a metaphor for the hope of life after death and what’s really out there. In any case, an engaging production.

My personal interpretation of this, was that the sun WOULD rise one day, and they had just-enough bulbs to wait until that day came. But one member rushed the process and doomed them all.
reply

I must be confusing this with an other short. I remember in the end, after all the robots fall, tiny other robots gather all the parts and the whole cicle starts again. Wierd

My interpretation is the realm of God is not challengeable. Just like the punishment of God to Babylonians when they wanted to build a mighty tower to reach the heaven.

And this is why you should never follow political leaders who promise you an absolutely bright future, and worrying about downsides is just Project Fear.
reply

The fact that they never got the chance to finish watching their tv thing made them missed the whole story of what happened to those who fled

After a lot (a lot (a lot) of very annoying DUST shorts, because always the same (the same (the same, that (THAT) made my day! Thanks.

This forecasted the cervesasicknes, then they said they have a solution for the problem ---just take the jab--you know the rest

I took it as If you have to live a life day in day out with no hope, spread your wings and fly above it even for just a moment.

NOTE: Well This was AWESOME! WOW! Needs some kind of Award. Sort of a Robot Icarus, trying to touch the sun story Do More.
reply

Moral of the story is dont use up all the resources all at once for a plan that isnt realistic and not the right time
reply

I was about to say. NOT EFFICIENT, guys! And thinking about rooms with mirrors and many of them together.
reply

That was obvious. Did none of them calculate that one light bulb does not stay on for long
reply

Aren't they all going to burn out at the same time =P Nevermind, I just predicted the ending.
reply

Unfortunate sounds. Too loud. Lots of irritating whining sounds that make you think headache

Don't wait, your dream to become true. Go for it. One of them did. For all Robotkind

When you print money all at once and now raise interest rate that’s how things crash

Would love more shorts from the Avarya universe. Beautiful, haunting and mesmerising.

So much much reminds me of the legend of Icarus! Loved it my Cosmic minded friend

Watch this with any TOOL song playing at the same time and it will all make sense.

And that was a perfect shadow of human existence as we approach lights out.
