Hello everyone!
This is James Martin Morrison, director and co-writer of Jump Cut, and Christopher A. Rivera, its co-writer and producer.
Late-night reruns of The Twilight Zone and its exploration of existential themes of meaning, choice, and personal agency were a huge inspiration for this short. We wanted to craft a cautionary tale about how our lives can slip away, or even be stolen from us, if we're not careful.

I was looking for a good time travel short and this fit the bill perfectly! Thanks for a great job on this! Acting was wonderful! Loved the performane by Lucy Walters as Maya and her total bewilderment at her losing track of time. That would be a odd predictament to be in especially to get to that casting call and find that you are THREE WEEKS LATE! That took even me by surprise. I was expecting a couple of hours. maybe a day or two. but not three whole weeks. Dang. Anyway. great job on the story! Loved it!

I can see this as being a cautionary tale to avoid becoming a predator to avoid being prey. She struggled just enough to give away her life and despite clearly seeing she was victimized, perhaps because noone stood or spoke up when she protested, she ended up becoming an accomplice in the next victim.
This perfectly mirrors the failed economic model of this century where we victimize eachother for the monied few.

I'm confused about one thing: What was the bit about they're coming for us, it's the end of the human race
Otherwise I was hesitant to give my approval through all of it (I couldn't answer Goethe's first question: What are they trying to do, and none of the characters were sympathetic ones. But. it held my attention, and had an ending that--while predictable--was well-executed.

This is a very interesting story and the acting, directing, and filming were superb. I was on the edge of my seat throughout!
Unfortunately, the ending was a bit incoherent. In what future was the film celebrated and why did the creator go on doing it over and over again

Brilliant, this short got me lost in time for 18 minutes I have to say the actors were extraordinary good playing their role, excellent story and good camera takes. Ony personal dust favourite list for 2025. thanks so much for bringing this to audience via Dust

Perfect in casting, lighting, sound, everything.
Often these shorts are too confusing, too dark, or too jumpy. Cannot say a single one applies here!

I recall having seen a story somewhat similar many years ago, it may have been a Twilight Zone episode, but the concept was well portrayed here. Kudos to a well acted and produced creation just a bit outside the usual sci-fi box. ..

It’s ok. Kinda meh. It was more a psychological thriller, and a confusing, messy one at that, than sci-fi. At least I didn’t really get a science fiction feel from the story (such as it was)

Scary story. The only thing I don't get is what causes her to accept this situation and work to entrap other women Does she get to be young again if she ensnares another girl
