Sci-Fi Short Film The Guide - DUST

That statement can mean so much, and to those who dont understand it, it means you have truly loved and lost, once it makes sense, then you know.
I definitely changed you.
I never comment on these, but this one really got me.
You see when you are young and in pursuit for your Wife, you get caught up in the rush of it all and after you find your Mate, and Wed, you have this blissful energy that is between you a contention that transcends both spiritual and physical things, and time, but then there is a very real dark Pearl laying under the tides of that transcendence, and that is the thought of one day either she or I will die and then there will be one of us left alone to carry on, and there is a beautiful sadness in that some say if you make all the way to that point you are a lucky one, but honestly I hate thinking about that possible reality either way.
If Im not here, who will look after here, cheer her up like only I know how, talk with her and walk with her, tell her I love her, open the door for her and make her feel safe, reach the tall stuff on the shelf, and it can just go on and on, and if she goes, who will I really talk to, no one by then on Earth will be left alive to really say Im loved. And although I am a step dad, (DadType2, bet yall thought I had Type 2 diabetes, huh, be honest lol, didnt think of that when I thought of the name) my step kids dont really love been in their lives 7 going on years and know Im open to being called Dad or some variation and they dont. So, I keep trying and just be there, waiting, so It is really just me my wife, my mom, my Dad passed 3 years ago, I have one older brother but he and I dont really talk to much and our record of getting along is spotty at best.
I wont lie I really love me Wife and for those of us who can relate to me and all this you know what Im talking about when I say I could almost wish I hadnt married because that pain is gonna be a mother of a quick band aid removal. Maybe we both go together, but I have the feeling this isnt whats going to happen, and I know what youre saying, you dont know that, but I have a really good prediction record.
In fact when I was growing up, my mother would ask, who loves you, and I used to cry big tears and she would ask whats the matter, and I would say No one, there is no one left who loves me. I was about 4 or 5 years old and I remember this. And then as years went one I remember telling when shed ask because she would keep asking Id tell her without crying, No one I told you stop asking. And then as I got older and married I said My wife, you Mom, you two really love me, and suddenly like a black tidal wave sent by that pearl, it all it me, Mom will go, then my Wife and Ill be left alone. Im a healthy person compared to my Wife, drives me nuts, I really have no idea how we got married and why it works but it does and Im going to enjoy it for as long as I can, and not worry till that day comes.
So what Im saying here is, we all like this movie short, we all have our own hour glasses of time so use them wisely and do the best you can in all things so when you are on that death bed all you have to say is simply Thank you!
Thanks for reading, Im 44 and married going on my 4th year in 11/07/24, the current year is 2023 when this was written, years from now Ill return, unless something has happened to me, no I wont forget, I got a hell of a memory like an elephant, I even remembered when I was brought home from the hospital. Like everyone else I dont remember everyday of my life but I do remember most of it.
But Ill come back and make an update years and years from now, check back in. Sorry for the missed spelled or wrong words, did this on my cell, and sometimes it thinks it knows better. Im a writer lol so yes on my cell this was written.

Such a beautiful story! Great acting, inspiring cinematography, perfect music. What an excellent example of the axiom show don't tell in filmmaking. No dialog, all eye contact and expression was so poetic to me. So poetic, in fact, that it felt as if the thank you line momentarily burst the bubble. I found myself wishing that the line could have been avoided. Nevertheless, it is a beautiful story superbly told! The talent that went into this film is, to me, breathtaking.

I like that there are multiple layers in such a short film. You are drawn into the narrative the girl is seeking to control but also speculative as to what the girl's story is in addition to the various back stories viewers bring to the film. Very nice work.

DUST is great, and that pisses me off. 90% of the DUST shorts are better than 99% of the crap that makes it to cinema. I hope Hollywood uses the pandemic and 2020 to reset and readjust their priorities.

Across the board - length, pace, storytelling, originality, cinematography, acting - one of best I've seen on Dust. The last step of placing on the glasses was pure storytelling genius.
