Why do digital games cost the same as retail copies?

Video games are expensive. Always have, always will be. But why is digital no different? Falcon has something to say Jared: Gamers, and I say this as a gamer, can be so ridiculous with their complaints. If you-re upset about paying 60$ for 30+ hrs of varied game play(that-s less than 2$/hr and most games are closer to 60hrs tbh) then you-re just being greedy or lazy yourself. Like mow your grandmas lawn once a week or Uber for a couple hrs to find your gaming habit. You could literally find 5hrs a day of gaming doing an avg of less than 1/2 hr of work. There-s not many forms of entertainment with a ratio of work-play that-s that excellent so just shut up lol

On console digital doesn't make sense if the cost is 30% more. On day of release games are usually discounted due to competition in bricks and mortar stores but remain the full price in digital stores like PlayStation Store. Also once you finish a game you can sell the physical copy to recoup some of the cost. You can't do that in a digital version. Really if digital wants to compete against physical the cost needs to be a fair bit cheaper then the physical counterpart.

Too lazy to go to Gamestop, Best buy, etc.... and i dont put ware and tear on my car just to get a game. Ive used Amazon and Steam for the last 4 years cause yea..... I bought my PS4 off Amazon when it came out, sold it when the PS4 Pro came out, and bout it off Amazon again.... so yea. I rather not use my car/gas if i don't have too. Why? I only have to get gas once a month. 90% of it is to get to/from work....

Its no point to buy a single player game when it comes out. Might as well wait until the price goes down if its no online... Also a game like god of war. I bought it digital... Beat it. And now it just takes space on my ps4. I cant sale it. If u buy it digital make sure its a game that has reply value.

I personally prefer physical copies because they can't delist it and keep me from playing it if I didn't have it installed at the time that he listed it case in point what they did with Scott Pilgrim I know they brought it back but it took forever to do so

I perfer actual copies of the game cause it makes it easier to share with friends and it-s an awesome experience just going to a game store and spending hard earned money on a game you worked and waited for to play and it goes with your collection too!

You should all be pissed, this started by them pushing for digital many years ago and they made every promise in the book, it'll be cheaper and they will pass the savings onto the consumer..... well that never happened and they pocketed those savings.

Completely fail to mention the fact that digital download prices barely go down compared to physical copies once the game gets older, when you can buy physical second hand for $20 but the store is still selling for $49.99

The one issue I have with digital versions is the price doesn't seem to drop as quick over time. I got XCom 2 a year ago and being it was an -older- game, the physical version was about $35 while the digital was still $60.

When you said -miniscule fraction- and had the slide of the hand.. You should have had that part from fullmetal alchemist brotherhood where that father guy is looking at the philosophers stone in his hand.
