EVE Online is the massive game that just won't stop. There's a surprising amount of interesting things to know about it, too! Johnathan: I'm a miner and t1 industrialist... i spend literal hours sitting and mining asteroids, avoiding pirates and gaining the materials to build ships... making a 200% or more profit on each ships i sell... and i only sell ships because players lose their ships in combat... and i sell 100-150 ships per day - as fast as i can make them, i sell them as i am making more ships (it's not like crafting in WoW where you just have the mats, go to a table and boom, you have a ship, it takes 12 hours to make 100+ ships so as ships are being built in every factory i can operate, i am out mining for more... making billions of isk on my own - solo.
... and yes, the market system is cut-throat but once you know how to work it, watch it, keep your record-books up to date... you will profit. When a war hit? i cannot build enough ships fast enough, and the highest bidder on that ship gets to fly away with it to fight and eventually lose, which means yet another ship or twenty gets bought by that one player.
Be warned... this game gets addictive, even if you arent a PvP player, there's a play-style for everyone.

Uhum that no8 the riot, we tried to stress the servers as much as we could, therefore we ungrouped all our weapons in wich the servers had to calculate every single shot, missiles were worse since their flightpath was also calculated by the servers, and we also tried to get as many people in one system to strike as this was also an effective way to stress the servers, there where many more things we did to basicly make the servers go -POOF- and they did, servers suddenly shut down and if I remember correctly they had quite some company dmg cuz of it

Funfact : CONCORD project discovery uses the exact method astronomers use to probe distant stars for planets.
by calculating patterns of dimming of said star at regular intervals. and the same for identifying what type of star it is from the color/flashing pattern it emits for instance pulsars keep shining and dimming on regular intervals due to its spin. which astronomers put in the calculation when analyzing the data.

B-R? Yeah, that was fun.
We set a new world record in the current war. Battle was in FWST-8, with over 8800 players on over 11000 characters, with a peak of 6557 players at the same time. Lasted 14 hours.
One coalition tried to anchor a big station in space to use as a bridgehead for the assault on the region Delve, the others wanted to destroy it.

took me 2 weeks to master all the control in the game, thanks to the help of the rookie chat, but its hard, cause expensive ship means more isk, but Im flying with frigates which has no fun.... Im all about isk, cause I want to rule eve and make players do what ever I want.... I never knew some players has hundred of billions.

The Jita statue bashing was riot, or like the Arab spring? Oh common. That was a peaceful protest at best. LOL. By the way... I Love EVE online, been playing for like a decade combined off and on. I can leave for a while, and when I come back all my stuff is still there. That game is outstanding. My hats off to the devs.

Eve probably loses about 80% of the initial players because they just don-t wanna go through the incredibly steep learning curve, which I understand I pretty much had to force myself to play everyday until I learned the game

What I hear about Eve Online is almost a mantra that goes like this, super toxic, high learning curve, and when your ship gets destroyed get ready to build a new one from scratch! Thank you, but no thank you!!

What is the expected life cycle for a game like this? I very much want to start but would hate to invest a year in a game just to have the majority of the community move onto something new in 2023.

You forgot about another outstanding act in eve. That deserves to be in top 10 as well. One pilot visited ALL star systems in eve. It took 7 years I believe and even some help from CCP to do it.
