Final fantasy 7 remake: 10 things the game doesn't tell you

Final Fantasy VII Remake (PS4) is filled with tons of things you need to figure out. We're here to help with some tips! Beware: I wish someone had told me earlier about the second elemental materia, my favorite materia in the game. I also didn't pay attention to the part about putting it on your armor to absorb the associated element equipped to it. The battle against the bombs in the Corneo Cup finally forced my hand after multiple deaths. My materia was maxed out so their attacks just healed me. Damn, that fight was easy once I learned that! Also would've been good against the fight against Shiva, as another comment said.
Also, considering all side quests (not the discoveries, just the green quests) must be done to get that second elemental, I recommend finishing the game on standard to get the chapter select mode (and unlock hard mode), and then playing only the chapters with side quests on easy. Chapter 9 will need to be done twice, once for Madam M's missions and again for Chocobo Sam's. COMPLETE THE ENTIRE CHAPTER! Don't just finish the missions, save, and move on, it won't count! You need to wait until the cutscene that shows you've entered a new chapter. Then feel free to save and go to the next chapter.
You'll find the second elemental after you've completed the quests in each chapter that has them, which concludes in chapter 14. When you come out of the sewers in the mission with Leslie, there is a bulldozer or something on the path you'll be standing on. You'll know you've succeeded in all of the quests as a letter will be on the ground with an indication arrow to pick it up and within it will be the materia. Once you have it, slap that bad puppy on and restart on your hard mode playthrough. Do all of chapter 14's side quests before going into that sewer with Leslie to ensure you get it, and there's a final part of one of the side quests while down there related to Corneo's loot.
There are upgrades that are exclusively given on hard mode and I think a different game ending, so it's not just something for people that want to torture themselves, lol. I usually don't play hard modes but this is one of the very few games that I've loved enough to do it and has felt very satisfying to do. I'm in the midst of getting the...Gottedamerung, I think it's called (you start battles with your limit break) and then it's back to Sephiroth, who was kicking my ass so I decided to finally look up help...which lead me to info about that ring and that 2nd elemental materia.

how long they pushed back ff7 it should have been all in the game already, not half a game, this game was originally supposed to be out in 2015 2016, gave the company 5 years after the due date yet we get this, a 2 or more part game to milk the best final fantasy game and why so many are going back to ff15, this is unacceptable, we got half a game that was unfinished, ruins all stats in the first one and everything, practically starting over for the 2nd part, not to mention all the extra content some of us got in the first one like hidden summoning etc, we get a base start lvl for the second half and no money or bare little? i hate when games do this, wish all save data would be transferred over to the second game, the first one also was missing alot of free roam and side quests that the original had as well, the space on disks was small compared to now, would be nothing to enhance the graphics and gameplay like now and had it all on 1 disk and 1 game, this is just milking and all about money at this point, just like how the hitman series has been doing it

I'm happy to say that given my experience as a Final Fantasy player, most of the tips given I've already been doing, such as equipping the Auto-cure, the Barrier, Assessing, and making sure I follow every curve and corner in the mini-map so I don't miss anything... BUT, it seems that I've missed a crucial materia, which is the Chocobo and Moogle one! I've no idea how I managed to miss it as I thought I was being very thorough... I have been going into this game blind, so I had no idea what to look for... question, is it possible to get it another way? Or do I have to start a new game in order to get it?

One thing I don't like about this FF 7 remake is the way to get the summon materia, at least the way to get the summon materia is the same as the original FF 7 through a quest or special mission or on a secret/hidden island plus if you want to get the summon you have to fight it first, while the remake version here we just need to talk to chadley and fight the summons in the virtual world and it's not fun at all. Hopefully in the second part the developers will develop the system to get summon materia more fun and challenging.

No, don't upgrade your weapons, they game is way too easy, ignore all upgrades and only equip material for battle intel report. This is the only way to make Sephirot and Leviathan a challange. So much more rewarding. Skipping upgrades or material is enough to make Bahamut a challange. Also you are not going to use a single time in this game after Chapter 1, maybe ship materia and upgrades, but once you finished the game and start playing it one hard, they cannot even be used, making them completely useless.

Its funny because just from love of the original i wanted to soak this game up up so i automatically played every side quest i could get. One thing to note though, is if you advance in the story line too much some side quests will become unavailable so do them while you can. I also pretty much stayed in punisher mode the whole game because it actually does deal more damage. The only thing i messed up on my first playthrough like an idiot was not fighting and acquiring bahamut.

The game doesn't tell you its repetitive and boring... I couldn't get past the part where you have to control the robot arms. Gameplay consists of repetitive combat, running and cutting boxes once in awhile. I'm a die hard fan of the original and this remake is trash and highly disappointing. They turned it into a shitty cringe anime with anime grunts, awkward pauses and all. I hate it

LOL love how you assume everyone watching is an amateur. Speak for yourself when you say you will use tons of items. I played my entire first playthru without using a single healing item, like, ever. The game is really really easy. Git gud plebs.
