North American video game retailer GameStop has had its fair share of problems through out the years. Here are some big mistakes that drive some gaming consumers crazy

One time I went to Gamestop to sell an iPad that was the most recent gen and brand new out of the box, worth 300.00. Gamestop had the gall to look me straight in the face and offer me 15.00 cash. I literally showed them it was selling on eBay for over 200.00 and that I could walk out and sell it for that. The guy looked at me and said -go ahead- in this voice of disbelief, acting like offering me 15.00 for a 300.00 iPad was a -mercy- and -generous-. And so, I listed it, in the store, and someone bought it IMMEDIATELY, and just to spite the jackass employee, I showed him and walked out, while telling everyone waiting to trade in games to go somewhere else.
I made like 9 other customers leave and about 4-5 others not go inside at all by telling them about the low tradin value and that they could sell at other places for more.
The lesson here is do not be a jackass to or try to grift your customers, because they will leave and try to take everyone else with them, and you will lose business.

So on number 10, it might have not been their fault. I remember, I think this was either during PS3 or maybe PS2 era, most likely PS3. You can buy PS3 game, open the plastic wrapper ever so slightly to take out the disk and close it back. Then you can return the game, and since it was -unopened- they would take it back and give you full refund.
Not sure how widely this was known, but I know a lot of friends who have done this. We were never sure if other people had figured it out, but this makes me think they had

When the xbox one was not backwards compatible. I went to gamestop sold a collectors edition of the newest assassins creed and the newest gears of war. They told me $2.00. I was like what the hell. My buddy went to that store 2 weeks later and they had them on the shelves for $50.
Ive tried gamers also with other games and they were supposed to offer more. I sold over 150 games to gamers and they gave me $120 cash or $200 in store credit....selling games is worse than selling cars.

Got a problem with a used copy of call of duty black ops 1. I got home, booted it up and two of the multiplayer maps didn't work. Summit had messed up textures in several areas. and Nuketown which failed to load. Had to go back to get a new copy. Keep in mind this was really annoying since it's far away from my house and i could only travel by bus.
These stores need to test used copies of games more often before putting the game on the used shelf.

Never had such problems with GameStop. No pushy people, no overpriced second hand game etc. Only thing that happened I bought as I thought a triple pack. A game 1-3 when it was only game 1. After finding out I told the staff. They apologized that the case says 3 games but they only have the one. That the new staff member made a mistake by not telling me. I got my money back. Everyone can make a mistake.
Maybe the policy here in Germany is different?

10 years agio, i bought a copy of fallout new vegas from gamestop and got home and it was an empty box. . but it had a code to download it through steam. I had to install steam to get the game and ever since then, i buy all my games through steam. haven't been to gamestop since then. I dunno how gamestop is even still relevant anymore. . .especially from all the anticonsumer practices companies use to try and prevent people from reselling their games

I'm actually lucky to have a GameStop near me where the employees are super chill and never pushy about in-store purchases. I went in to get a cash offer for my Xbox One S 1tb and got a little over $120 for it. While the guy was making sure it worked and all that, he was literally just shooting the shit with me about my new PC Build and some new games coming out on it. Never once even pushed a single sale on me. Sometimes there are diamonds in the rough.

It's called upselling it's the exact same thing you do when you ask us to click the like button. It makes me want to not hit the like button, but research shows that it actually does get more people to remember to hit the like button. Statistically speaking upselling the membership card will get you more members than if you said nothing at all about it.

I think you forgot one the fact that they only sell games for new consoles like only if the new consoles just came out you cannot find a game for the old console and sometimes it's even to the point where the new Consul doesn't even have that many titles out

GameStop just makes me miss Hollywood video. They sold pre-owned games for a decent price and also sold games that had been taken out of the rental pool for about $5-$20. I remember walking out of there with stacks of stuff for the price of 1 new game.
