BIGGEST GAMING STORIES OF 2023

BIGGEST GAMING STORIES OF 2023 I don't have a problem with the quality of Cyberpunk the DLC was really good so coming from Witcher 3 to Cyberpunk initial release was a horrible experience. What I was annoyed about was they kindof blamed the toxic gamers and weren't willing to accept enough blame themselves no one forced them to release it. They could have said no and they definitely shouldn't be setting release dates when they don't know it will be ready. That's what was annoying a lot of people GTA has taken nearly 10 years but what they haven't been doing is saying we are releasing our game now, oh we need more time let's delay it again any again instead GTA set a releastic release date for 2025 to make sure it's ready

The massive layoff of developers this year is another variable (or ill omen if you want to be bit dramatic) regarding the industry reaching a, for lack of a better term, tipping point. That and the commentary from individuals in positions who oversee funding of game productions/projects and whatnot stating how the cadence of game releases (particularly stellar ones (i. e. Sony) is becoming unsustainable.
I sometimes wonder if another price increase is on the horizon. Sony is seeking alternative methods of funding via live service and it will be interesting to see how that will play out. Microsoft becoming more ecosystem-focused is another point of curiosity. And finally we have the dominant Nintendo and their supposedly soon-to-be-released new hardware. 2024 will indeed be an interesting year with some hopes and concerns.
Also, thanks, Jake, Falcon, Andrew and crew for another year of informative and entertaining content. Best holiday wishes and until next year.

This year has been absolutely crazy for games. We ended up not only getting the best games ever (Baldur's Gate 3) and some of the worst (The Day Before, if you can even call that a game) I really liked when Cyberpunk came back with 2. 0, 2. 1, and Phantom Lib. If you still don't like Cyberpunk, no judgement. I finished the game and got multiple endings and I was satisfied as my game went passed the 100 hour mark. I also played WAY too much Final Fantasy 14, it's this giant mmo that I've been working on the past few years, and finally got to endgame with all expansions completed, and just waiting for the next Expansion Dawntrail to come out in 2024

Most of my friends that went into the gaming/ film industry have grazed across the idea of homelessness. It's unfortunate, but Starving artist is a realistic concept. You are better off working a standard job and making games in your off time to try and get your feet off the ground. The tools are better and better, getting training aka schools are not necessary anymore. You are better off trying to make a game and asking ChatGPT your random questions. Save yourself 50-120k of tuition and make good games.

Rip E3 and original G4tv. games and its world have changed. for the worse. Graphics and concepts are grandiose but execution and passion mixed with greed have destroyed our gamespace. Gamers in thier mid 30s understand what I mean, we have seen games pave the way and be destroyed. Let's get back to the way it was and hold publisher's and studios accountable. We want solid games without paid content and pay walls. Make your money for good work not bad work that people pay for fixes

While I hate monopoly's in general, I do approve of Microsoft buying Activision, They are improving some things. Also why did no one scream about Sony buying Bungie? Or any of the other companies they bought? At least with Microsoft the games are PC as well as X-Box, to compare Sony wouldn't even let you have friggin Spiderman in the avengers unless you had a PS console!

Sad thing is E3 died not because of the fans but because of corporations they only focused on the money while we saw it as a gathering point for people who loved games and could look forward to future games together then they figured lets just throw celebrities at it as if thats what mattered to the gamers

Much in the game development industry feels washed out repeated content with oversizes light effects and bad physics to impress five year olds and it all have been run over by greedy owners destroying everything. The greed and pressure on the developers have become a virus in the gaming industry.

I will never forgive CDPR for how they handled that launch.
So cringe lol. It's not like CDPR ruined your life, dude. Sure that launch was so awful, but they worked so hard to redeem the game and they did just that.
Not forgiving them. really? Cringelords omfg lol.
Also; Hi, Boston!

It's going to be an AWFUL Day when the AAA bubble bursts, and it WILL burst! The costs now in developing games is so enormous and huge, with no real guarantee of making bank or breaking even, plus the price of these games passing the 70 bucks mark. well, you see where that is heading.

Geez, i lL nEvEr FoRgIvE cD pRoJeKt ReD. blah blah. Your loss. And are you shareholders to be that butthurt? Pitiful and petty. Cry about it if CDPR didn't do anything or ran with the money. (Looking at you The Day Before)

It was more nefarious, who asks people to 'volunteer' their time and their skills to make a game that might not succeed and depend on the game's generated income to fund that development without renumeration for their work?

Does anyone else remember hearing about E3 shutting down last year, I swear I heard about it last year them shutting down to just hearing it again and am not the only one cause my friend thought the same thing.

I wonder if Singapore government will take action against the two brothers of fntastic cos they gave alot of money to 'finance' the day before so I doubt they gonna be too happy about getting scammed by them.

If they d stop with the DEI bs, people would spend all of their entertainment budgets on gaming. Movies are so terrible. Developers are blowing it though, doing the same stuff as the worthless movies.

I know you guys didn t really talk about this cause it s technically not a game, I guess. But Silent Hill: Ascension. Damn that whole thing was just a wacky and weird train wreck to watch
