Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown - Before You Buy

Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown - Before You Buy Great, so Ubisoft breaks another IP by falling into the inclusivity trend. New MC, nothing to do with the OG games, NOTHING TO DO WITH THE PRINCE OF PERSIA which is the title, and the guy has clear African American characteristics.
So Ubisoft made a game about a black guy in persia with a random story. And they put the Prince of Persia IP sticker on to sell more copies, cause they knew if they didn't then it wouldn't sell as much and would be like another indie platformer.
Thank you Ubisoft, you never fail to disappoint your loyal fans!
Love you Gameranx, this ain't my game tho, another disappointment for this decade of gaming in my list.

as the one for who 2003 2004 2005 Sands of Time trilogy is culturally one of the most important and cherishly beloved games of all experienced(it's months before i had my first pc in primary school and watching Warrior Within gameplay in friends home and acrobatics and animations, Prince look, world look, made me fall in love with it and i planned on having this game once i ll get my pc.
The vibe of it, the flow, the music, the animations, chracters, dialogues, lines, voices, stories -they imbued in me and part of my sensations - and it's imossible to have games that feel like that in modern times, especially similar Prince of Persia. And because of all that - that 2d version of Prince of Persia - is a crime, i hate and not even gonna watch video if it's good. it's not TRUE Prince of Persia of 00s.

Love the POP games even the 2008 version which i for one would love to see another like that in the same artstyle only in an open world setting with a day/night cycle it would be lovely with todays tech
RTX Remix is coming soon can't wait to see what that can do for older games the amount of modders in the world could potentially make some fan made remasters and if the tech can be incorperated into emulation (Duckstation, PCSX2 QT, RPCS3, Xenia, Etc) then that would open another door for greatness i mean finally we might get an actual proper remaster of MGS collection lol

Prince, but not a prince, of Persia, but not quite. I absolutely love metroidvanias, and this looks really fun, but I will not buy it until some huge discounts just because Ubisoft choose to include this game in Prince of Persia series for absolutely no reason, except money. It’s absolutely obvious, that at start it was new IP, but then some bosses saw the game and said Hey, doesn’t it look smth like one of the game we made many years ago Let’s make it a sequel! And who cares that neither plot, nor gameplay is alike beloved games I, I care. Be honest with your clients

This seems like Ubisoft was trying to make Prince Of Persia in the beginning but, later on after seeing there's need for too much effort in the Story Making forgot about the Persia Part.
They could've named this Prince of France, Prince of Greece of fkin whatever and nobody playing the game Would Even Mind or Notice!
I feel like the Persia Part is Looking very Missing in this game. Rather its just some Random 2D Action Game you just play and forget. It's a 0/10 for me, A for Effort tho.

Lore stuff and character design aside this game feels like a celebration of the series in all its forms. You got the challenging platforming of the original, the more hack 'n slash nature of Warrior Within, the time manipulation of Sands of Time, even the concept of not being the Prince but someone who has to protect/rescue the Prince was the original concept for Assassin's Creed! Loved the demo, I'll probably buy the game once I finish some I have in my backlog

This looks like a generic platformer that looks like it came out more than 10 years ago. The world seems very empty for some reason. I wish they would have just named it just something else rather than Prince of Persia: This looks and plays nothing like the predecessor even including the vintage one. This mobile game looking metroidvanja certainly doesn’t deserve the prince of Persia title just Ubisoft milking cash through the franchise name.

I love all the Prince of Persia games. Sands of Time was just magical and I still have hopes for that Remake. The interaction between Farah and the Prince was something else. Amazing. I mean, the fact that I still have her name right at the top of my head all these years later speaks for itself. Talk about memorable characters in video games! I also really like the reboot with the cell shading look. They definitely tried new things back then.

The game is about time travel, fate, and realizing that one's self can be both the most stubborn enemy and the most valuable ally. Players use their Time Powers, combat, and platforming skills to perform combos and defeat enemies and mythological creatures. The game features a cursed Persian-inspired world filled with landmarks and biomes, each with their own identity, wonder, and danger.

This is what happens when Ubisoft leave their formulaic open world shell, they can make a decent game that stands out and feels fresh and creative. They'll probably keep pumping out the same shitty soulless open world games, but hopefully we'll still get an occasional fun and refreshing game. Fingers crossed for a new Rayman, maybe the 3D Rayman 4 we never got

More ubisoft for you, they did it again, they took AC Chronicles and bang, a new prince of persia game, 2023 the same, another far cry: avatar, this year, skull and bones AKA Cheap version of black flag, not buying from this company ever again. Everytime i play their games is like i have played it already

I just hope they don't use this game as some sort of litmus test for how much interest is out there for a new mainline game. This game would have been a nice treat alongside the release - or at least announcement - of a new mainline game. By itself, this is a bit underwhelming for the franchise.

The screenshot highlighted on the map part is really big for me. The most annoying things about some metroidvania's is finding a hidden thing but not able to reach it yet. The screenshot thing is the best alternative to basically writing down a backtrack guide for yourself
reply

The only downside I can see on this game is that it's damn ugly. How can you make such a great metroidvania with a high profile franchise such as prince of Persia and make it look like that There are indie metroidvanias that cost 1/10th of the budget and look stunning
reply

Is not a latest game, but F. I. S. T Forged in Shadow Torch is a sleeper metroidvania, 2. 9D sidescrolling rpg platformer. 9/10 on steam. its available on Xbox GamePass, but its only 29. 99 retail, but can usually be found on sale. i think it deserves a mention

I haven't played a Prince of Persia game since the 2D original way back when, but I can see myself giving this one a try. Looks a bit frustrating in spots, but in a fair way. Not a fan of the character designs, but that's not a deal breaker.
reply

still very off putting for me to see this. maybe i will get it when its on steam sale 2 yrs from now: ) i think they damaged the perspective with 1st trailer with that shitty rap music. just wanted remastered or remake of those old games: (
reply

I'm glad this turned out to be good, but I would love a new Prince of Persia game just with the style of the PS2 era games. I know Prince of Persia was originally a sidescroller but those PS2 games were amazing, and the ones I grew up with.

Sands of time is my favorite one. This one I’m super excited about because I loved playing games like this growing up. Like the old castlevania games. I love seeing these type of games made modern like Nintendo did with Metroid dread.
reply

I wonder what made the higher ups at Ubisoft approva a smaller project like this and the most recent Assassins Creed. It's rare for company that grow so much like they did in the past 20 years to step back and do something more simple.
